We bought our range about five years ago. All seemed great until I was baking and the glass door on the oven exploded and shattered glass was everywhere. I had cuts from the glass and so did my dog. Now I have to purchase a new range. Worst purchase ever! Poor quality for sure. The handle broke off and the glass explosion was all over my kitchen.
what is not to like about this oven. easy to clean both top and the self cleaning make this oven a very happy purchase. the only concern is that the rear of the oven really isn't made for an island, no back cover to cover over the counter top. had to re- tile the back area for oven installation to look finished.

I admit that I hated this range from the get-go. In spite of the top vent near the burners, when running the oven, there is a constant loud and annoying fan that blows air out on you when you're using it. The fan will run for a long while after turning off the oven, and using the oven will heat up the room more than any other oven I've ever used. But the worst thing about this range is that the glass door has a tendency to shatter. The first time, I though it was a freak accident, and I paid to have a Sears technician install a new door. The same thing happened six months later. Both times the handle became lose and came off on one side while opening the door, and then the glass door shattered a few seconds later. There is no warning that the handle is coming lose, you just open it normally, and suddenly it's off, after which the door shatters into thousands of pieces. This creates a very tedious mess to clean up. No matter how well you think you cleaned up all the glass, when there are thousands of pieces, you're bound to miss a few strays. My 7 year-old cut her foot on one of the stray pieces. This oven is dangerous. It should be recalled because of the door. I've never had an oven where the glass shattered before. Now it's happened twice? That's got to be a faulty design. Also, the drawer on the bottom is very hard to take out and put back. I like to clean under my range frequently, and this makes it a task I prefer to put off. You have to unlock the door on both sides at the same time, pushing down on one lever, and up on the other. It's pretty hard to get back in too. Why does it need a lock? Other range drawers I've owned just slid in and out easily. Some have commented on discoloration on the ceramic top. This is also true. I have tried to keep it clean, and it does discolor after a while. However, this issue pales in comparison to the other really bad things about this range. There has got to be a better range out there!!! Don't buy this one!

trust me usually i don't write reviews but i must have to help others in this. i bought this product 1 yr before but i have use occasionally, if its a spill over situation then color fade off, if you are deep frying then oil doesn't come off from grills and really sticky residue on range even after cleaning with good products. i love kenmore products but this is the king of worst product. this product doesn't reserve 1 star but i have no choice

Our electric range finally decided to bite the dust, so we had always said that we would replace it with gas when it did, so we were forced to go with a slide in. Unfortunately they are extremely expensive compared to the standalone, but that's beside the point. I did not have any issues as other reviewers have stated regarding the placement of the gas line and valve causing a gap in the back. It slid perfectly in my island without any issue. If you're placing a gas line, I placed it 6 inches from the edge of the left side of the range, with the valve facing about 5 o'clock. I used a 48" 5/8 flexible connector and everything fit without issue. For the record, I do not have access to the back of the range, as it is a kick plate for a bar on the other side of the range, and I wasn't going to cut a hole in it. As for the range itself, it is perfect. Albeit, the lower drawer is flimsy, but other than that, it is perfect for our needs. The burners are powerful, and the oven bakes evenly. We are very happy with this purchase.

We've had this gas range for a few months but we had only used the bake feature of the oven a few times before it broke. Luckily, it was still under warranty and Sears sent a repair person to replace the igniter for free. However, I would not recommend purchasing this product. The oven also has the quirk that the fan stays on for about an hour after you turn it off, cooling down the oven. Apparently, that is normal, yet rather annoying.
