Kenmore self clean slide-in Electric Range-great purchase!
I really like my new stove! It's the first "new" one that I've owned. So, compared to the old one I had previously, this is great! The fan will run until the oven is completly cooled, but it's not as loud as some reviews make it sound. After the second time or two, I rarely notice it. When using the oven, it keeps the heat inside well (doesn't heat up my whole kitchen while I'm baking!). The only issue we have is that the top easily lifts up to clean, but when putting it back down, there is a piece of rubber that kept getting caught in the "latch" in the middle. I didn't realize it wasn't supposed to be down, so I pushed it down further :/ Didn't do any damage, but my husband showed me how it's supposed to be up. I was able to just push it up against the side and it stayed, so not a big deal. When opening the stove you have to be careful to let the heat out BEFORE you reach in to grab your food. I had a very old stove before this, so you can definetly tell the difference w/ them holding heat, this one does it's job. We've used the self cleaner once and it stunk up the whole house and burned my eyes (and yes, when we first bought the stove, we let it run at 425-450 for the time it said), but it still let off the new fumes. I haven't used it gain since, so we'll see how it goes/smells the next time. Overall, I am very please with this purchase.

Slide in stainless electric coil type stove is cheap made

Overall a big disappointment.  Stove top between coils gets so hot during use that you can not touch it.  Anything that drops on it immediately cooks on to the top.  The porcelain on the bottom side of the stove top has already burned off after very few uses.  The stove top itself seems to be flimsy tin rather than metal.  The panel around the knobs is not stainless steel and scratches easily.  Service came out and couldn't find anything wrong with it.  Suggested that I not cook on high.  I am working with the local Sears deaer to see what my options are for trading it for something else.

Update on previous review

We've had this range (Bisque color) for almost 3 yrs. The oven has stopped working twice. The second time the repairman didn't have a new thermostat, because he didn't know that it didn't have a reprogrammable thermostat. You'd think that they would know from the model # we gave, the oven not working & from the info. from the 1st repair. The bisque color drip pans started loosing the enamel before the 1st yr. They are very hard to clean & look bad after almost 3 yrs. of cooking. The range area around the burners gets very hot when the burners are turned on. Hot enough to burn you if you touch that area even several inches away from the burner. Not real happy with this range, but we were limited because we wanted Bisque, electric coil burners & a slide in range.

Not so happy with cooktop

The black top is very hard to keep clean - streaks very easy. It should be stainless steel like the front of the stove. As another viewer writes - the top get very hot near the burner that is on. The digital cover for the oven/clock is very cheap and the fan takes a long time to turn off after you turn the oven off. We have had this range for only a few days and I already wish I would have shopped elsewhere but since we have all Sears appliances I decided to stay with them. With the price I thought this would be of higher quality. Also, when it was delivered the delivery person did not remove the plastic and stickers on the front of the stove which took me a long time to do his job. After being charged $159.99 for delivery I expected the stove to be ready to use when he left. I hope Sears reads these reviews.

Stove Cooks Good Food!

Of the 3 or 4 stoves we finally considered, this one was our first choice. We felt the price was right, the features convenient and the options were what we wanted. After going thru Thanksgiving and a few weeks of use for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, as well as baking desserts, we are every bit as pleased with this unit as we had hoped to be. The one frustration we experienced was with a disgruntled installation crew. Sears resolved that issue as quickly as they could, credited us for their lack of performance and bent over backwards to make sure we were happy. We WILL return to Sears and the sales personel who helped us for our next appliance purchases. They are great! We are very pleased with our stove choice. It is easy to use, easy to clean up, looks great and does a great job cooking, stovetop or in the oven. We could have paid a lot more, but not gotten more features or benefits for the extra cost. The value here is excellent! We couldn't be happier!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

has problems

I have had the repair man over at least 4 times, the elements on the stove top will go "hotter" than the setting (a 4 will burn our food). I had it on 5 and the entire burner turns a bright red as if i had it on high. I have been told than since it is electric it doesn't cool off fast from one setting to another and i keep saying, " i have only had it on the lower settings." I am going to buy a new stove, but not this one.
