Overall
The Kenmore 30" SS range hood 5535 is a very good product.

This range hood has dual filters and a powerful fan that can handle residential range smoke and odors.  The two 75watt lights provide more than adequate light.  The surface looks good and is very serviceable.  The instructions are a bit sketchy when trying to replace an exsisting range hood.  The flow connector may need to be attached to the cabinets and duct work before the hood is slipped into position and fastened down.  The bottom shelf and duct work needed to be modified for me to install this unit.  It was not an easy application but workable.  Now that it is in I may remove the 4 screws that came with the unit and replace them with slightly bigger and better screws to get the unit tighter against the bottom of the cabinet.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent Product - Best Bang For the Buck in a Vented Hood

I researched many, many range vent hoods and this met my needs for visual appeal, overall color and performance. We bought this for installation into the new home we are having built. There are guides for range vent hoods that focus on range top capacity for custom kitchens. Since we are not gourmet chefs here, we decided to use quality venting, but not over the top custom venting - like 800 CFM, cu ft/min. This hood at 450 CFM has plenty of air clearing capacity for the average range. You should allow approx 100 CFM for each 10,000 BTU of range capacity. So, a 45,000 BTU range would require approx. 450 CFM. This was bought to go over a black, top of the line Electrolux range with 5 burners whose total is about 60,000 BTU when all are operating. All typically will not operate at same time. Also, of importance, this vent will flow over 80% capacity for the equivalent of 200 ft. of 7" round vent. The instruction book has a chart that shows equivalent vent performance depending on the number of 90 deg elbows and the overall run length. We have 3 elbows an exhaust damper and approx 15 ft. of 3"X8" vent pipe. I projected approx. 85-90% of the advertised flow rate for our installation. I functioned the vent to make sure it all worked before it was installed. The infinite speed control functions very well. It achieves two levels of lighting by using two std. bulbs of 75 watts max. One configuration uses 25 watts for a nightlight and 25+75 watts to light the range. One or both are lit. These are postioned forward where they belong because you are always more likely to use the front burners. With two 75 watt lights it is amazingly bright. It looks like you can also use compact flourescents since the bulbs seem to be on a std. mechanical switch. The blower has the motor in the center with two centrifugal fan elements and very large low restriction expanded washable aluminum filters. I hold an MS in Mechanical Engineering - with concentrations in Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics and Mechanics and have 40 years production and design experience.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Kenmore Range Hood 5535 is excellent

I have purchased this range hood for four homes in the past 20 years. (may have been changed model numbers.)  I am extremely satisfied with the performance and ease of cleaning.  The blower motors and fans are so easy to remove for cleaning . I can do it without the help of my husband.  Never a failure in performance.  If I ever have to purchase another, this is the one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Kenmore 30" Range Hood #5535

Replaces an old microwave hoodvent.  Here's what I like:

1) Functions very well to keep cooking-smoke and odors moving up and out rather than into the house.  Does a better job than the microwave hoodvent it replaced.

2) It is attractive and looks pretty in the kitchen and even opens the space.  The stainless and black coordinates well with the other stainless and black kitchen appliances.

3) The reason I gave it only 4 out of 5 stars is that it isn't as quiet as I wish it were.  It may not be any noisier than more expensive ones, and It isn't noisier than what I had but it would be great if it could be quieter.

4) I have only had it for a couple of weeks so only time will tell about its durability.

So far I like it very much.

I support Made in the USA products!

I love this product I just bought in Feb 2010 as it is made in this Country to protect US jobs. I will write more when I use it. I installed the range hood last weekend and the installation took me two day due to a wall stud which I cut and reinforced it. The range is easy to install. The fan works perfectly and quietly. It sucks all the cooking odors which causing concentration on the windows and doors since I bought this house out of the house as my friends who cook fish and other Asian smelly foods. I only use the middle speed. I selected this range hood due to it cheaper price compared to Vent a hood one which looks easier to clean up around the fan. If this Kenmore range hood can be modified to separate the fan covers from the motor, it would be easy to clean. Another comment about the stainless steel material, this stainless steel is weird as it attacks the magnetic bar; I also checked my Stainless Steel fridge and got the same issue. I think the new stainless steel blend is different than what I learn. I would like to hear from our experts. I would recommend this product to my friends and others!

Pleasantly surprised!

This vent hood arrived the next day; it was very to install and the noise level of the fan is fantastically low compared to my old vent hood! The suction of this model is unbelievable---could dry my hair with the air blowing from the outside vent! I am very happy with this model..

I would recommend this product to a friend.
