The Kenmore 32616 30-gallon electric water heater has a glass-lined electric water heater to help prevent corrosion, Lineguard™ elements that resist lime buildup and foam insulation to prevent heat loss.

A 30-gallon electric water heater is the minimum recommended size for a 1- to 2-person household with typical water use.

  • Energy-efficient foam insulation prevents heat loss
  • The tank and parts have a 6-year limited warranty; labor has a 1-year warranty
  • Cobalt Blue Ultra Coat™ glass-lined tank and anode rod protect the inside of the tank from corrosion
  • Two Lineguard™ elements last longer and have superior resistance to line buildup; the lower handles typical demand, while the extra responds to heave demand
  • RotoSwirl™ self-cleaning cold-water inlet tube swirls water to prolong tank life and maintain energy efficiency by discouraging lime buildup
  • DualWatt™ lower element easily converts from 3800 watt to 5500 watt to accommodate different wiring

Nice Water Heater at a Good Price with Reasonably-Priced Install

An old A.O. Smith water heater in garage apartment sprung a leak, inundated our garage, and needed to be replaced.  Our regular plumber wanted $1150 including installation to do the replacement.  After researching water heaters, found that this one is made for Kenmore by a well-regarded large manufacturer, and is a quality model, about the same dimensions as the one that needed to be replaced.  At about $250 for the unit, and $300-ish for the Sears professional installation, it was less than half the price our plumber wanted.  I completed the entire transaction online, including setting up the installation and specifying exactly which installation services we needed. The mechanical firm (plumbers and electricians) sent by Sears to do the installation was incredibly friendly and extremely-professional.  They called promptly to confirm the install date, showed up on time, and knew what they were doing.  They were so good, we hired them to come back and take care of some other plumbing and electrical issues around our house.  Sears also offers a reasonably-priced installation of a drain pan under the unit, which I selected when purchasing this unit.  I wish that our regular plumber had installed one with the last unit, so that it wouldn't have rained hundreds of gallons of water into the garage from the second-floor apartment when it inevitably failed. To make the unit last beyond the warranty, check and replace the anode rod every couple of years; it is what keeps the tank from rusting.  The design of this unit makes it easy to do, and the part is available by Sears Parts Direct at a reasonable price.  We couldn't have been more pleased with the ease with which Sears took care of this.  I also should note that Sears apparently has a service where they can come even more quickly to replace a water heater that has failed; I think it is available by phone.

Miser 6 low boy has a good warranty

Kenmore and Sears does stand behind their products.Fortunately, because I had 2 serviceable issues in first 4 months that were fully covered before the tank gave out in the 3rd year. Again it was fully covered and replaced at no cost other than delivery, installation and removal of bad heater. When it worked, it worked well. The turnaround time was quick and energy wise it was economical. I may have just gotten a lemon, I hope so.

Good appliance

My old water heater burst and I bought this new one from Sears on the phone. They lined up a good installer and had it working in no time. Thank goodness for hot water.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
