I have to admit, I'm scared to death of change. I'm afraid of trying new things, so when my washer finally gave out I headed out to find one with an agitator. I swore I would'nt buy a washer with no agitator that I had to use HE detergent in. But, after looking around and a lot of changing my ming that's exactly what I did. I have had this Kenmore washer and the matching dryer for almost a week now. I do about 5 loads of laundry a day. I am a sceptic and I always look for something to worry about. I have inspected the laundry and I must say each and every load is fresh smelling and totally spotless. The first time I turned the washer on the different sounds worried me, it makes you think something is wrong, but they are normal. It simply does'nt sound like the older models with an agitator. I live in the country and I have a well so I am very happy about the washer using so mush less water. I could'nt understand how the laundry could possibly come out clean using half the water but trust me it does! I was told if I thought a load needed extra water to put the stain boost on so I use it for towels and jeans just to make myself feel better but I'm not sure it's even necessary. So far I am extremely happy with my purchase an now I wonder what I was so afraid of. This new technology is GREAT!!
I have always had Kenmore W/D and have always loved them. When my Kenmore Washer finally needed replaced I knew I wanted to replace it with the same. I was however hesitant after reading reviews. Talking with the salesman he told me that many people did not know how to use efficiency washers and use too much detergent. I went ahead and made purchase and regret it. I called and exchanged for new product. Food stains my old washer easily remove remained. Dark clothes have detergent stains. It also leaves all items very wrinkled. Items I used to be able to hang dry and wear. With this washer everything has to be ironed that is not dried. They should pull this item off the floor. Very disappointed.
Bought this washer after having a very old one that made the worst possible noises and our clothes were coming out stinky. I love this washer and can't say enough good things about it. It's our first HE washer and both my husband and I are enjoying it very much. The sales team was very nice and explained everything we needed to know.
Dont even think about getting it. You would be sorry, if you did, for the following reasons: It leaves soap residue all over your laundry. (yes we used HE soap). It does not clean your clothes at all. Yes, we used proper amount of soap). When it washes it sounds like it breaks down. It is the noisiest machine I ever bought (and returned). I can not believe this machine is not pulled off the market yet. We read some of the reviews after we brought it home and installed it. We thought It can't be that bad... we washed one load 3X and yes....It is that bad. And no, we do not have to get used to a high efficiency washer, because we know how they work. I have one good thing to say about this whole washer ordeal: Sears was spectacular. They were courteous and fast in returning this thing. They had very good customer service. But the washer itself...if I could give no stars,... I would. I am a housewife with 4 kids and pets. Don't waste your time on this like I did. Read all the other negative reviews and .....Do not buy this machine!!!!
After reading the manual, this washer has done nothing I would not expect. Unlike many similar items, the manual is very straightforward and easy to understand with a logical layout. All you need to know to start a load with the installed washer is printed on the underside of the lid. However, to avoid concerns about noises and perceived moments of the washer doing nothing, I highly recommend you read the manual. Yes, it takes a bit of time to sense the load. This is normal operation and native to this kind of washer (automatic load sizing). Yes, it makes clicks and whirs and starts and stops (It senses the load size while dry, then it wets the clothes; shuffles them until they settle to the bottom; then it re-senses and adds water as needed. This ensures you only use the amount of water you need.). It takes about as long to wash a load as my old GE did. I suspect that is the result of the washer determining the precise amount of water, instead of wasting time and water based on my guess. It gets the clothes just as clean as my previous washers. With regard to the noise level, perhaps some are having unrealistic expectations for a washer in this price range. There are other higher-end washers that are virtually whisper quiet, but you pay for insulation and engineering design to make it that way. If noise level is a real concern for you, you should look to spend at least a couple hundred more. That said, this one is quieter than my previous washers (an ancient Kenmore and then a GE). My only concern was having to use "HE / High Effeciency" detergent. I have had problems with allergic reactions to many detergents, so over the years, I've managed to find a select few that do not cause me problems. I feared I'd have to start my search all over again in the "HE" realm. To my relief, my usual powder detergent, "Ultra Gain Original" contained the "HE" label. It turns out, I'd been using HE detergent all along with my previous, non-HE, washers. Given there is no traditional agitator, I would imagine it is easier to mis-load the washer. The instructions clearly indicate to, "Load garments in loose heaps evenly around the washplate. Do not load garments directly over the center of the washplate; when loaded, the center of the washplate should be visible." I would imagine many first-time users view the absence of a traditional agitator was an invitation to overload the tub. You simply cannot put any more clothes in this 3.8 cu. ft. washer than you can in a traditional style 3.8 cu. ft. washer. If you follow the simple instructions (which may deviate from the way you are accustomed) that are printed on the underside of the lid, you should have at least as good a wash as with any traditional washer.
I am a 57 year old female and have owned 3-4 other washers. This is by far the worst washer I have ever bought and used. It is so loud, when agitating that it sounds like something is major wrong with it. It constantly stops on its own. I have to wash, then start and stop again for the rinse cycle and they start and stop again for the spin cycle. Hours to wash a load that does not even get cleaned. I had rather use a laundry mat washer. Can't wash anything but a very small load from start to finish without playing with the *&%$ thing. Sears should take if off the market...should be recalled.
I don't know why the negative reviews. I love this washer. So far so good. On my 3rd load of clothes. Cleans clothes well and the noise is just different. Not loud. If you use the rinse once instead of rinse twice, it doesnt take that long. I have no soap residue on my clothes. Just follow directions and all should be good. HE soap first, then clothes.
do not make the same mistake i need. i cant believe the put this junk on the market. very poor wash quality. when clothes come out looking like they looked like going in something is wrong. i ended up returning this and ordering the GE dual action agitator model. 2+ weeks from now wait time but i am sure it will be worth the wait compared to this trash. Kenmore should be ashamed of themselves

It rate less than 1 star, it is ineffectual and doesn't do the job right. It doesn't provide enough water to decently do the wash. All whites come out dingy and full of dark grey lint so it looks dirty. All dark clothes comes out full of white lint and doesn't come off even after putting in dryer. Sometime the clothes are still full of detergent or fabric softner even when put on double rinse. I highly recommend not to purchase this washer it will give you lots of agrevation. To the designer of the washer redo your design because it is not fair to to customer to purchase a product that doesn't do what it is meant for it to function as.
