Kenmore 3.8 cu. ft. Top-Load Washer - Efficient and Thorough

This Kenmore high-efficiency washer 2510 is a laundry essential, helping you to get your family's clothes clean and ready to wear. It gets the job done efficiently, using 65% less water and 75% less energy than other machines. The Kenmore high-efficiency washer also includes the StainBoost option, which provides extended washing to remove tough stains from clothing. It has the capacity to wash a large load of towels, or even bulky comforters and pillows.

  • Combining wash basket motion, impeller rotation and a burst of concentrated detergent, the Triple Action® impeller deep cleans fabrics while using less water.
  • Stainboost™ extends wash time for a deeper soak, better cleaning penetration and more powerful stain removal while remaining gentle on fabrics.
  • A small footprint makes this washer an easy fit for apartments, basements and starter homes, while powerful performance delivers the same clean you’d expect from larger machines.
  • Rapid spin speeds squeeze excess water from clothes, linens and more for faster, easier transfer to your dryer and shorter dry times.
  • Designed to help remove detergent build-up, cut down on odors and rinse away any left-over grime, the Clean Washer cycle provides essential maintenance for optimum performance.

Don't be afraid of an HE washer!
When I purchased my townhouse a year ago, I was thrilled to find that there was a washer and dryer in a laundry room on the first floor, a much more convenient location than the basement. It turned out to be a mixed blessing. The old Kenmore Series 70 washer was extremely noisy. When Sears had this model on sale, along with the bundled dryer, I couldn't resist. I was somewhat nervous about buying an HE washer. The published reviews on such machines are very mixed, to say the least. I downloaded the instruction manual and read it even before the machine was delivered. I was determined to do it right, in order to possibly avoid the problems others have reported with HE washers. I have only done three loads to this point but am very pleased. It is wonderfully quiet (particularly compared to my old washer). The laundry comes out clean. A full load on the Normal/Regular cycle took 45 minutes. I washed a queen size comforter on the "Bulky" cycle with an extra rinse. It took an hour and 20 minutes. The noises are different than a conventional washer. The different loading routine is somewhat difficult to get used to. I filled the machine with one load of clothes only to realize that I forgot to first pour the HE detergent in the bottom of the basket. Out the clothes came, in went the detergent, back in went the clothes. Don't be afraid of this HE washer! It's great!

Not Worth the Savings!
Bought this washer after my GE Front Loader died after 7yrs. I didn't want to spend almost $1000 on another front loader; I just wanted something that cleaned my family's clothes. I didn't mind a top loader as I use my mom's often and think it works fine. I wanted an HE washer that would save on water, but this has been a horrible purchase! I just received it today and have already arranged to exchange it. I don't mind spending another $220 for a front loader that I know will get my clothes clean! The agitator is small and doesn't move my clothes around at all. I kept pausing the wash to see what was going on inside and everything stayed exactly the same way as it was put in until the very end; It basically soaked in water, nothing more! We are a very active family - triathlons, mountain biking, bmx racing, etc.. - and need a washer that does more than soak our clothes! I could have filled the tub with water, put detergent in it, dropped my clothes inside and it would have been the same thing! My husband's clothes still had funky/sweaty body oder (underwear, socks, even under shirt sleeves...eeeww!). The tub is also very loose, causing it to swing around during the wash or spin cycles, and the wash is noisy! Spend a little more and avoid this washer, PLEASE! The ONLY way this washer will get clothes anywhere close to clean is if you keep the loads VERY small (tiny!), like near the tiny agitator, which in that case would make the rest of the 3.8 cu. ft. tub useless! We are a busy family of 4 (includes 2 very dirty males) who don't have time for tiny loads or stinky clothes! HORRIBLE!

not happy

i am so not happy with this washer. the other one i had was a king size. i could put everything in it and it washed great. this one gets off balanced and the downy ball hardly ever opens to let the softener out. i am very disapointed with this one and will never buy another one like it.

Do Not Buy This Machine

We have had this machine for about 7 months and I have been wanting to write a review. We would never purchase this machine again. Even with the Super setting which is supposed to have more water, many items are not even wet upon completion of the cycle. Unless all items are pretreated they are not clean and have to be washed again which defeats the purpose of less water used. In addition, the unit locks when turned on so you cannot put more items in unless you unlock the machine. This machine is more trouble than it is worth. Conserving water at the risk of unclean and dirty clothes is not worth it. We would not recommend this machine to anyone and are sorry we purchased it.

Give me old school again!

What a pain in the **** it has been since day one! I had to call a repair man the first day. All the high tech sensor nonsense is horrible! I have to keep restarting it because it will quit halfway through. Go back to when you started your machine and it actually went through the whole cycle and cleaned your clothes!

POOR PERFORMANCE!!

We purchased Series 500 Kenmore washer less than a year ago in Annapolis MD and it has been giving us problems since the get-go! I wanted to return it right away, but my husband said to give it a try. I agree with everything VAL_fam_4 said. Does not clean clothes; they still look dingy and dirty and SMELL! Where are LEMON LAWS when you need them?? I have to go out today and buy YET ANOTHER one and it will NOT BE SEARS!

This is a great washer with no agitator. You can wash almost anything. Rebates are usually available from your power company to further reduce the actual cost.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Noisy

I purchased this washer in July 2014. The purchase at the store went smooth & the sales rep seemed knowledgeable. The delivery also went smoothly except make sure they level the machine which they didn't do with mine. Delivery man also explained about running a first time 'Clean Wash' with bleach cycle which is very important to do. This will insure no grease on your clothes when doing your first load. This machine is very noisy!! It does make different sounds than the old agitator machine I had for over 25 years, yes a Kenmore also. A low load & a high load takes 43 minutes to complete. It does clean the clothes efficiently & I really like that the clothes are spun almost dry. Also purchased the matching dryer....see review. For the price, its a ok purchase & I wish I would have spent $150 more for a better machine only because of the machine being so NOISY!!

First Kenmore Washer

This replaces my old GE washer which lasted for 10 years. The operating noise of this new Kenmore washer does not bother me. Bought it Jan 2014. However, this happened to me twice in a span of 5 months that I have to check the washer during the spin cycle. The machine suddenly made a loud noise while spinning. After opening the cover, I noticed that the clothes were pushed on one side. I just re-positioned them, then it completed its cycle. I think I fixed the problem by not mixing the delicates with the heavy laundry items (such as towels, sheets...).

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Disappointed in this washer

Purchased this HE washer in January. Already had Sears to my home two times to fix the washer. The balance is off and needed to be reset, clothes take over 2 hours to wash and now Sears is coming again for the third time. Now if you put a load of clothes in before bed the washer is going all night!!! I don't know what is going on with this washer but the cycle stops (Express or Bulky) and then restarts right away. I don't have time to watch the washer machine for when the cycle ends and quickly get the clothes out before it starts again. Clearly this is an issue with this machine and hope the third time it gets fixed?? Buyer Beware of these issues.

Do Not Buy!

Worst washer I've ever used. I've had this washer for about 4 months and am so unhappy with it. Without the agitator in the middle it just wads up the clothing and doesn't rinse the soap out. I have it set to rinse twice and on most loads I run an extra rinse cycle. So that is 3 rinse cycles just to get the soap out of the clothes, so much for saving water and being energy efficienct. It's loud, it seems to take longer to do a load of laundry, I can't put as much in because I know the soap won't get rinsed. I could go on and on with my dislikes. I wish I could return this washer, such a waste of money! Don't buy!

I don't recommend this washer...I bought it because it we High-Efficiency

This washer has like a Stub in the middle of the washer where the agitator is...I guess this is the HE agitator....NOT IMPRESSED....This washer makes a TON of Vibration when running, almost walks across the floor (thank goodness it is in the laundry room on concrete floor)....I don't know, but with all that shaking I am concerned that this washer is not going to last long--it does this even with a small load...
