Don't be afraid of an HE washer!
When I purchased my townhouse a year ago, I was thrilled to find that there was a washer and dryer in a laundry room on the first floor, a much more convenient location than the basement. It turned out to be a mixed blessing. The old Kenmore Series 70 washer was extremely noisy. When Sears had this model on sale, along with the bundled dryer, I couldn't resist. I was somewhat nervous about buying an HE washer. The published reviews on such machines are very mixed, to say the least. I downloaded the instruction manual and read it even before the machine was delivered. I was determined to do it right, in order to possibly avoid the problems others have reported with HE washers. I have only done three loads to this point but am very pleased. It is wonderfully quiet (particularly compared to my old washer). The laundry comes out clean. A full load on the Normal/Regular cycle took 45 minutes. I washed a queen size comforter on the "Bulky" cycle with an extra rinse. It took an hour and 20 minutes. The noises are different than a conventional washer. The different loading routine is somewhat difficult to get used to. I filled the machine with one load of clothes only to realize that I forgot to first pour the HE detergent in the bottom of the basket. Out the clothes came, in went the detergent, back in went the clothes. Don't be afraid of this HE washer! It's great!

Very unhappy with this product
I have been using this washer for about a month and am very unhappy with it, wish I could exchange for a regular washer. The washer is very loud and does not get the clothes clean. I purchased the HE soap and the soap residue is still all over the clothes after washing. Some loads have been washed multiple times and soap residue is still present.

Read Directions and Be Amazed

I don't understand some of the negative reviews regarding this washer. I mean really people. Ok so when this spin cycle which is 800+ RPMs you might experience more wrinkles if you are not drying them in a dryer. But once I put my clothes in the dryer they come out the same as with my other washer plus since the spin cycle is so fast your clothes come out not as wet and dry faster in our dryer. Please just READ the instructions. Yes this washer is different because you need to add just a small amount of HE detergent first before loading. (I believe your choice of HE detergent and how much you use is key) And yes its recommended that you should load the washer (which has a huge stainless basket) around the edges trying to leave the center open so you can view the bottom after loading. Once you know these things its easy and the washer does a very fine job. It may not be for those people who dis-like change even if its for the better and just like to load it, close it, turn it on and forget it. But don't blame the washer because it performs as it should if directions are followed. So here are my Pros and Cons for the washer: Cons -No dispenser for laundry softener. It says get a Bounty Ball but I just put it in with the laundry detergent before loading. -Takes about 45 mins to wash a load Pros -Sounds different than other washers but overall is quiet - Washes clothes just fine -Dries faster since it spins so fast -Affordable

DO NOT RECOMMEND

Buying this machine was a big mistake. The clothes come out so wrinkled that everything must be ironed before wearing. My towels are so wrinkled I am embarrassed to put them out in guest bathroom. Dark clothes show soap residue and I can only assume that light clothes have residue also. The worst thing is the brown stains on the clothing. I have had to throw out one white shirt so far. I use HE detergent and follow the directions in the Use and Care Guide. We are on a septic system and cannot use 1 cup of bleach as required once a month to clean the washer as recommended on page 11 of the Use and Care Guide.

Great purchase

I will say this does NOT have a softener dispenser i guess they are saying purchasing a downy ball is your dispenser. But other than that this washer machine has delivered! I don't understand all the issues people are having, read the directions and know it is different than the conventional agitator style washer. Its going to sound different and work different if you don't like change than this product is not for you! I LOVE this washer it has all the bells and whistles for a reasonable price the washer rings the clothes out so well my dryer will probably last forever not having to work so hard- which by the way saves on the electric bill! I have washed everything even an oversized king down comforter with no issues. you do have to load differently than the old style washer and you do have to put the soap in first and do leave the lid open when not in use to dry the machine out. If you follow directions you wont have a problem. I cant believe the difference in the feel of clothing and when I open my basement door everything smells so clean! If your hesitant dont be!

Avoid this machine!

I bought this machine as a bundle for $849. (Came to over $1100 with taxes, delivery, set up, etc) I thought if I spend a little more I will get a better machine. WRONG! I have barely had this machine 90,days and it completely died on me. And other reviews are correct about noise, lack of water, not clean clothes, etc. I feel totally ripped off! Sears refuses to do anything about this POS. I am really disappointed in SEARS! Don't buy this machine.

price right cleans well

6 water levels scroll agitator 2 rinse option. Forgetabout saving water, think about saving machine from burn out from old farts not adjusting water level for the towells and bedclose load. Unless you have septic concerns leave on high or super load for a cleaner wash avoiding motor and tranny burn out. Whatmorecanyousay

disappointment and hassle

I'll start by saying I am an intelligent person, good at problem solving, assembling tricky items, and troubleshooting when a device isn't working. I hate this washing machine. First issue was that it didn't use enough water and my clothes were partially still dry at the end of the cycle. So, I did the "double rinse" option, which solved the dry problem but didn't solve the soap residue problem. I called the 800 number for help and after talking to multiple people and finally getting someone who could help, I was told to use less soap. I had been using half the amount that was recommended up to this point of HE appropriate soap. OK, so I used even less. There's still residue. Most of the time I had to wash my darks twice to get them clean, and then because I used so little soap, nothing smelled clean. It didn't look particularly clean either. Then came the problem which was most troubling to me; The wrinkling. All my cloths would get permanent wrinkles in them even when I took them out right after the cycle completed. I have two sweaters which I love and CAN be washed in the clothes washer and moth got severely wrinkled and wherever there wasn't wrinkles the clothing faded as well. So now I have two sweaters with a strange marbled pattern on them. Obviously these sweaters can't be ironed and hanging them in a steaming bathroom didn't work either. I also tried putting them int he dryer for about five to ten minutes in hopes it would get the wrinkles out. No luck. I've never had stress over an appliance before! I called a repair guy to come out and take a look in case there was actually something wrong with the machine. He "recalibrated" it but it made no change to the results, and now I'm in the process of replacing the brand new machine. If you're considering buying, move on to the next washer to consider!

wasn't the best I've had

didn't get work clothes clean, tangled everything ,very wrinkled, left soap on items, now won't go through a wash or spin right. replaced the door latch(as per trouble shooting) still doesn't work. other fixes cost between $50.00 and $250.00 dollars.

This washer works great

We bought this washer before we noticed all of these negative reviews. We were worried we would be having to return it! Thankfully that was not the case...the clothes go in dirty and come out clean. If it seems to take to long use the express cycle and don't use the second rinse cycle. If you notice soap left on your clothes it could be because you are using too much soap or not using high efficiency soap. If it is making funny sounds it may need to be leveled. This washer works well, auto senses the amount of water needed, has a pause button if you need to add something in the middle of a cycle, and in my opinion does an amazing job. I am pleased with it

good but noisy

I did not experience any problems with this washer other than annoying sounds, especially one particular part of cycle. Clothes came out fine. Unfortunately we have a laundry area off the kitchen. Would be better to keep it in a basement/somewhere further from frequently used living spaces. I haven't had it long so can't comment on reliability. Nothing lasts nowadays.
