Kenmore 3.4 cu. ft. Top-Load Washing Machine - Optimum Efficiency

Featuring a Dual Action Plus agitator and powerful spin cycles, the Kenmore 3.4 cu. ft. top-load washing machine 20022 offers energy efficient cleaning to save you money. The unique agitator works detergents deep into clothes using both sideways and clockwise motions, while the bleach dispenser delivers perfectly mixed concentrations to more effectively clean your clothes. The powerful 700 rpm spin cycle shortens the time required for drying, saving even more energy. With four load sizes, four water temperatures and eight cycle options, this Kenmore top-loading washing machine allows you to adjust for each individual load.

  • The Dual Action® agitator moves both side-to-side and clockwise to double the cleaning power while still delivering gentle care for delicate fabrics.
  • Multiple wash cycles give your hardy work clothes, delicate linens, and stained fabrics the treatment they need to look their best.
  • A small footprint makes this washer an easy fit for apartments, basements and starter homes, while powerful performance delivers the same clean you’d expect from larger machines.
  • Whether you’re washing wool, cotton or high-tech fabrics, a choice of four water temperatures makes it easy to customize your wash.
  • Rapid spin speeds squeeze excess water from clothes, linens and more for faster, easier transfer to your dryer and shorter dry times.

There is nothing wrong with this washer folks!
Well first off I wanted the most inexpensive washer I could find at Sears, this one was it. I hated that it had all the negative feedback and that made me search the others. Then I went back to actually read about the negatives vs positives. The things everyone complained about, in my opinion, was due to user error or just not used to a more modern washer. They are programmed differently and more electronic than the older models. That's just technology for you, you cannot go backwards with these types of things. You cannot buy a new 15 year old washer today-get over it. You have to deal with industry standards like the features that this one has. This thing is quiet. Couple extra noises while it auto-calibrates in the beginning so what. I was worried about not having enough water level, it came up perfectly and I wasn't even on the largest setting. No leaks like someone else said. Washed clean, all detergent was washed off, no dry spots on clothing. Dried very well with the spin. I had no reason to lift the lid during any of the cycles but decided to anyways. Press the pause button and it stops for you-press again and it picks up where it left off--no problems there. If someone actually wanted to get rid of the lid lock its only 2 screws and you can remove it and place into the top receiver--problem solved--open whenever you like. It is there for your "safety" of course. I would buy this model again. Hope it holds up for many years as I am in no hurry to get rid of it.

worst machine I ever bought
this is the worst appliance I have ever had in my life. I was shocked to see that they are still selling this washing machine. this machine has a mind of it own. sometimes it would work & some times it would not. I could never count on it. I always tried to stay on top of my laundry because I would not know when this would be the last load of clothes it would wash. I had so many problems with this machine that I don't have time to list all of them If I can save one person from wasting their hard earned money on this washing machine then this review will be worth the time I took to write it. My washing machine was put out with the trash last week. I love my new washing machine even though I hate having to spend more money on a new machine but I am so glad I didn't sink more money in this product.

Awful, Awful, Awful!

Not only does it NOT clean your clothes but you can't bypass the load sensor. My spouse is going thru chemo and we were advised by the hospital to run the washer empty after washing any of my spouse's laundry because of risk of residual chemo drugs from body fluids but because the machine is empty, we can't get the tub to fill. This is the worst feature ever. I don't need a machine telling me how much water to use, thank you. I pay for my water and if I want to use more water, I will pay for more water!

HATE it

HATE IT HATE IT - DON'T BUY! This crazy machine has so many things wrong with it ... where do I begin? First of all, there is no way to soak a load of clothes. We enjoy farming, gardening, and all sorts of dirt-filled activities - cannot have a washer that doesn't allow soaking. The wash cycle (no matter which one you choose) takes AT LEAST an hour - not efficient at all. There is no simple way to add fabric softener, unless you baby-sit the machine (again, waste an hour) and ours is downstairs. If the machine doesn't fill up with water within 9-10 minutes, it cancels the wash cycle. That means it pumps out every bit of water and soap that was just added with no way to cancel this function. No warning and no buzzer, just starts emptying. You now have wet AND dirty clothes. If you leave the lid open too long ... it also cancels the wash. If you accidentally hold the 'pause' button too long to add that lost sock ... it cancels the wash. I have wasted more water and soap in the last 2 weeks than I have in years! I would NOT recommend this machine to anyone and wish I had never seen it. Horrible investment or our hard-earned money! We are going to try to return it.

Overall
GREAT little washer. No idea why there are bad reviews!!

We picked this washer and the companion electric dryer up at the Sears outlet New In Box. They aren't too huge and heavy, as my fiance and a family friend were easily able to lift them in and out of the truck, so they were pretty easy to move. We were able to hook them up and level them in just a few minutes. Some other reviews have stated that this washer doesn't get their clothes clean, but I'll go ahead and assume user error, and that they over-packed the washer. I just keep washing everything because my family's clothes have never been so clean. Fiance works outdoors, I do many outdoor activities and obstacle course races, and we have a 4-year-old son, so as you can imagine, our clothes get pretty grimy, but this little duo does the trick. There are no fancy bells and whistles, but that just means less to break. Water temp, load size, and a few different cycles to choose from, what more do you need? It's fairly quiet i.e. it's in the mudroom attached to our dining room, and we can do laundry while eating dinner without it bothering us at all. The only drawback, and it's a very slight drawback at that, is that neither the washer nor the dryer has a signal at the end of the cycle. I was so happy to purchase this set so cheaply, and honestly, they are a steal for the price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Terrible washing machine

If I could rate this washing machine zero stars, I would, because that is what it deserves. Buyers beware...DO NOT BUY it because you truly do get what you pay for. I purchased this machine about 14 months ago and it is already deceased, following numerous other problems it has had up until now. Problem # 1: Locking lid feature. I thought this feature was going to be tolerant, but the feature only worked sometimes. There were other times, it just didn't want to unlock and my clothes would be stuck unless I unplugged the machine completely. The only way to get the lid to unlock is to cancel the entire load and start over. So much for forgetting a sock or something you need to add last minute. You are screwed. Problem # 2: It took forever to fill up, at least 20 minutes. The entire load took over an hour and that is because this problem goes along with the next problem. Problem # 3: Using the Regular or Delicate cycle does not do a fill rinse and drain your clothes, it only spray rinses. I still had soap residue on my clothing after the cycle was complete, therefore, I had to use the Heavy Duty cycle, the only cycle that does have a fill rinse and drain option, but this option takes a lot longer to complete and is also very hard on my delicate clothing. Problem # 4: I believe the agitator stopped working because around a year of using this thing, my clothes started to seem like they were just not as clean as they should be. But do you think I could tell if the agitator stopped working? No, because the lid was locked! Problem #5: The sensor stopped working properly. When I would start a load of clothing, the sensor would only figure out if there were clothes present some of the time, other times I would have to keep pressing the cancel and reset button. Between the wash and rinse cycle, the washer would just stop by itself and I would also have to go press the reset button for it to rinse and drain. Finally, yesterday this washer wouldn't sense clothing at all and after unplugging it several times, it wouldn't start up. This is by far, the most frustrating washer I have ever owned or operated my entire life! The lower price is NOT worth all of this stress. And just an FYI... the clerk tried to tell us that all washers come with locking lids now, that is completely untrue.

Leaks and can't be fixxed

Washer lasted about 2 years of use. Then it started overflowing on large setting. Leaks all the time, but sometimes it will simply overlfow 10 gallons into the garage. Its been worked on twice and each time it does it agian. It aslo ties up clothes around the agitator. It is noisey, however i could live iwth the noise if it simply didn't leak. I am replacing it with something and it will not be a kenmore.

Great washing machine

I purchased this with its matching electric dryer. So far they are working great. I would recommend the higher capacity units. I think my old unit was a 3.7 or 4.0 but this was still a great price so I can deal with a few less shirts in my loads!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Don't wash a single towel in it.

No matter how well-balanced you make the load, having 1 towel in there is enough to throw the thing off during a spin. Gather your towels to be washed in a small load by themselves. Plus, it's easy to cause these to overflow if you try to stop mid-cycle to change to a different cycle. Old washers didn't have that problem. We got ours from someone who'd used it less than 10 times. I'm thankful for a washer and happy when this works, but I'm glad we didn't spend money for it.
