I got this disposal to replace an 8ish year old Badger 5 that came with the house. What a great step up. Noise-wise, it's quieter when actually grinding (operating noise is the same, as we have a thin stainless steel sink). It also doesn't flinch when given bunches of food to grind, unlike the old model. We regularly had flooded sinks because of clogs caused by potato and carrot peels. Not anymore. Installation is straightforward, with simple instructions. For the people who need a plug to hook theirs up: there are plug kits at Sears right where you got the disposal, and they're only $9.99. They're not included because that would raise the cost for the vast majority of people who hardwire theirs instead of using an outlet. Most people don't realize this, but there are only really a couple companies that manufacture disposals. The largest in North America is Emerson. They manufacture Badger, InSinkEerator, and Kenmore. The base model Badger 5 is the equivalent of the Kenmore 6011. 1/2 hp, no sound insulation, plastic grind chamber, galvanized steel grinding elements, 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Unless you're only getting the disposal to sell a property, do yourself a favor and bypass the base model for something with more power, stainless steel insides, and better performance. You'll be glad you did.

26 months and it leaks
This disposer started leaking after 26 months. I called Sears Service and they assured me the 7 year warranty was valid and they scheduled a repair call. A Sears tech arrived 10 days later and refused to work on the unit because, "My paperwork doesn't say this unit is under warranty and I've never heard of anything being warranted for 7 years." I showed him that on the unit itself that it's labled "7 year warranty" so then he says, prove to me you're the original purchaser. I said "Are you going to work on this or not?" He said he would not and then said this was the last call of the day and that he wanted $65 for showing up and having his time wasted. I said, "Sears says this is under warranty and I bought it in Dec 2005. " When he saw he wasn't going to get any money from me he left. I called Sears to complain and they apologiized profusely and said their tech was wrong and if he had any doubts he should have called us to verify the warranty. They scheduled another service call for 10 days after the original. I hope this time it will be better. They said if the tech that responds for this call has any doubts regarding the warranty's validity for me to call them and put the tech on the phone and they will tell him the unit is under warranty. In the meantime, I still have a bucket under my sink to catch the leaking water.

Quiet and Powerful

This disposer has more than enough power to chop up nearly everything I need. And it is surprisingly quiet when operating.

No Problems

This is a powerful disposer. I've had this disposer since Nov 2013. Grinds up everything that I have placed in the unit. I would buy again.

Not an easy installation at all

I bought this disposal to replace another Kenmore model that stopped working. That was fine, since the other one was reasonably old. But, when we purchased the previous one, we were sold on it because the fitting for the sink drain was now going to be universal for Kenmore disposals, making installation of a new one a breeze. Well, that is not the problem this time! I came here first and read all the reviews, and saw that so many people talked about how easy it was to install. Well, I beg to differ. The problem is that the outlet hole is not the same size as it was on the previous model, so none of the existing plumbing works with this new disposal! My husband says it is different by about 1/4 of an inch, but it could be a mile and still have the same result. So despite my husband being very handy around the house, we are having a plumber come to install it. I am, as you can imagine, pretty annoyed.

Great kitchen appliance

Quite, powerful, fast. easy to use , easy to install, chews up large chunks of: Food, peelings, husks, rinds, bones, eggshells, corn shucks ,okra, pineapple husks, cherry pits and Peach seeds, all disappear with ease. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to replace a 1/2 horse model. Chose the 3/4 Horse Kenmore and you'll be amazed at the difference.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Kitchen Garbage Disposal. works great. I would definitely recommend this!!!

This product works great. it's not very loud which is a bonus when my children are asleep. It clears the sink and drain fast and efficient. It doesn't make a clanking noise when turned on like my old one. Sounds smooth. I love the feature of the warranty included in the purchase price. I have piece of mind knowing that i can call and have a sears technician come to my house to fix it any time that I need it done. I highly recommend this garbage disposal.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Disposal

The disposal replaces a simlar Sears model that was going on its 14 year ,but I decided to replace because of kitcehn remodeling. The Sears brand has been reliable for me. This item does the job well and the noise level is low. Hope this item last just as long or longer as the past model.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

DisposerRelief

The disposer is a MUST for me in the kitchen. I bought this disposer when my old one quit mainly because it has a stainless steel interior which will help control odors . I also like the expected life span of the item for the price. Quieter than the old disposal I had for years.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Wow all my errors disappear!

I am so happy with my new Kenmore waste Disposer! I needed to replace my old one half hp disposer. After reviewing multiple disposers I selected the Kenmore 3/4 hp disposer. Installation was very easy. This disposer makes waste items disappear quickly and much more quietly. I just love my Kenmore Waste Disposer.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
