Product Description

Kenmore 28.1 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator w/ Fresh Storage Drawer – Great Performance and Storage

The 28.1 cu. ft. Kenmore French Door bottom-freezer refrigerator 7238 has plenty of features to help keep your food fresh and provide handy conveniences. The Fresh Counter Height storage drawer uses air from the refrigerator to help extend the life of your produce, and this means keeping your spinach crisp and strawberries sweet. This refrigerator also includes Smooth Motion Triple crisper bins. Three bins in two sizes let you organize produce of any shape or size and lock in freshness with automatic humidity control. Rollers help the bins glide smoothly and effortlessly, even when they’re fully loaded.

  • Genius Cool™ features dual evaporators that cool your refrigerator and freezer separately to help eliminate wilted lettuce and freezer-burned ice cream
  • Dual SlideAway shelves create more vertical space for storing items like wine bottles, pitchers or the occasional flower bouquet, without rearranging the fridge
  • Gallon door bins easily hold jugs, bottles and gallon containers to help clear the shelves and give you space to stock up
  • This refrigerator uses less energy than an 80-watt light bulb*, making it a real energy saver

*Based on the annual kWh rating of 700 for an 80-watt light bulb

Loving this Fridge
Got this fridge 2 weeks ago, so far we love it. It's roomy and the 2 split shelves is awesome when you need to put in tall bottles. The middle door is ideal for items, like cheese and cold cuts. The ice and water dispenser works just fine. I have had no problems with it. So far no big deal with fingerprints, but then the grand kids haven't been here yet. Oh, and we can't wait until we buy our pizzas so we can use the pizza caddy in the freezer. I was always a Whirlpool person, but after all they do make the Kenmore. So I'm happy.

Functionally Superior w/ One MAJOR Flaw!
After spending an exhausting amount of time researching refrigerators, I went to ******, ******** and Sears and spent several hours at each store. Ultimately decided on this fridge primarly b/c of the refrigerator drawer, french door style and 3 solid drawers in the freezer. My spouse was also very big on the lighting and I will admit it's quite wonderful. Functionally this fridge is awesome and everything we hoped for. We spend 80% of our fridge time looking in the fridge and not the freezer. This fridge makes everything so much easier to see compared to our Samsung side by side. So here is the rub, and to some it's pretty important and to others maybe not so much. After it was plugged in I quickly discovered this fridge is loud - Noticeably loud. My Samsung had basically zero noise except when ice was dumping. This fridge has a low hum that is constant. If your living area is near your kitchen or opened to your kitchen, and subtle background noises bother you, then I would move on. What I determined is that that it's not the actual compressor but in fact the fan that blows cold air across the top section of the refrigeration section where the ice is made and then dumped down into the door ice holder. This fan noise is constant b/c the ice machine is in the fridge so to make the ice it has to do this and it also blows down into the area where the ice is at to keep it frozen. Again, this is b/c it's in the fridge area and if it did not do this the ice would of course eventually melt. For me this is incredibly annoying. For my spouse it's no big deal and the functionality counters this negative. I can say the hum does get slightly quieter after a few days and the fridge is running at full efficiency, but for me it's just annoying and had I known this i would have purchased something else.

Lemon

It is the noisiest unit we have ever had. It runs almost constantly. When it does cycle off it isn't for very long at a time. The ice cubes freeze into a solid blob. We will be calling for service. This is a poor way to start off with a new appliance. It makes you wonder where it will go from here. We are very unhappy with our purchase.
