Kenmore 27" Laundry Center - Full Performance, Less Space

Though compact and designed to fit in tight spaces, the Kenmore 27" laundry center 7153 refuses to compromise on performance. The 3.2 cu. ft. capacity washer offers nine wash cycles to accommodate any combination of fabric and soil. You can adjust wash/rinse temperatures, wash/spin speed combinations and even water levels for a fully customized cleaning experience. The dryer unit on the Kenmore Laundry Center is likewise spacious, with 5.9 cu. ft. of capacity and enough drying power to tackle your bulkiest loads. Easy electronic rotary controls set in the middle of this stackable unit allow you to adjust for your needs.

  • A small footprint makes this washer an easy fit for apartments, basements and starter homes, while powerful performance delivers the same clean you’d expect from larger machines.
  • A small footprint makes this dryer an easy fit for apartments, basements and starter homes, while solid performance delivers the same drying you’d expect from larger machines.
  • Multiple wash cycles give your hardy work clothes, delicate linens, and stained fabrics the treatment they need to look their best.

A great full capacity stacked unit.
I recently purchased for my Grandmother and installed the unit in her first floor bathroom. She wanted a full capacity unit with simple controls. This unit has both. The controls are at eye level for both the washer and dryer. The only thing the unit doesn't have is a bell/ buzzer to notify user of load completion. Go with the 27" unit versus the 24" if you have the room. Capacity for washer and dryer are well worth the extra cost. Easy to hook up, although unit is heavy (275lbs.) Ran the electric, water, waste, gas, exhaust and hooked up unit in a day.

I'd give it NO stars if I could

I had a Frigidaire stacked unit from Sears which had so many problems that the Sears technician invoked the lemon law and had it replaced. We got this unit, which I hate! Got it in Nov of 2011 and to date they have been out at least seven times. Have another service call this week. First complaint - it was loud, loud, loud, in spin cycle. Tech said it was my loads - to do either all light, or all heavy. Makes no difference. Does not get clothes as clean as last machine, does not spin them near as dry, dryer takes twice as long to dry and does not get as hot. I could go on and on. Technicians who come out are having to come out more than once to fix problems. THIS time, 3 of the four rods which hold tub suspended have come undone, because machine SPINS TOO VIOLENTLY, THUS THE HORRIBLE NOISE IN SPIN CYCLE.

Kenmore used to be a good product. No more. I am frustrated because they will invoke the lemon law again, and I will be stuck with ANOTHER Sears machine, and Sears service. Sears is having major problems surviving because they no longer produce quality products or service. It is a nightmare dealing with them. If I were independently wealthy I would rip this out, and buy a new unit from ANYONE ELSE BUT SEARS, and I would NEVER, EVER deal with that sorry company again.

DO NOT BUY-unless you have a desire to see repairmen often!!

1) Too loud when washing clothes 2) Doesn't drain, or doesn't drain completely-despite 3 servicemen here in >3mo. 3) Takes forever to dry! 4) Poor quality from previous stackable that we had for 14 yrs. Hate this machine, can't wait to get something else!!

Kenmore 27'' Laundry center with Gas Dryer

I tryed it out for the first time and I do say that when the washer was going it was making alot of loud sounds that we didn't like all though it was working just fine no problems with it..... The dryer is very nice and BIG to fit alot of clothes in it and it throws alot of heat to dry my clothes that's a plus.....What I like about this combo washer and dryer unit it saves us money because it uses less energy that's another plus that I like.... Excellent product Sears and Kenmore brand name keep it up will buy again from Sears online or at the store....

Works just fine

Bought this as it was the only unit available on short notice, tht would fit the space, after the old stacked Kenmore cratered after more than a decade. I was leery after reading reviews, but it has performed adequately and quietly. Wish it had an end of dry cycle buzzer and a dryer light, but other than that, it is fine.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Tub Gasket failed!

Purchased in February 2011 (manufactured Nov 2010). Tub gasket failed 20 months later! Leaked and damaged ball bearings. Repair estimated to cost $515.00. Usually Kenmore appliances have been reliable.

Read, review before buy

I bought this machine 1 week ago. The wash cycle doesn't go all the way and my clothes doesn't rinse all the way. Water still dripping from my clothes when i take them out of the washer. The water doesn't fill the washer per load. The dryer doesn't work. I don't even want to exchange it, I want a return! The older Kenmore models worked better. I am very disappointed with this machine from Kenmore.

Positives and Negatives on new laundry center

I like the quiet of the product. That said when I first used the product I noticed several problems. When I set the washer to hot, the water was cold. The clothes did not spin dry well, and the new style of washer seems to just barely agitate the clothes. I called to have service check the unit. The installer/ delivery people had connected the hoses backwards. The technician corrected this problem. I also expressed concern that the washer didn't spin enough water out of the clothes. Via a computer app he checked the cycle. Since I didn't want him in my home forever, we used a light cycle and for whatever reason, the clothes felt drier than they ever had on a more powerful cycle! My son's t-shirts do not get as clean as with my old washer; so now I just hang them instead of drying them. My other clothes seem to be fine. My only complaint with the dryer is that it pulls off the buttons on my husband's flannel shirts---the holes on the drum are too big. I love the fact that the dryer does not beep when it is done. This means I can put clothes in late at night and know that it won't wake anyone up with an annoying loud series of beeps. I hope this model lasts longer than my last washer/ dryer combo---the dryer died at only age 8! (also a Sears unit)

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not as good as old Kenmores

We bought this to replace our 13 year old Kenmore Laundry Center (which we loved). After researching a bunch of options that would fit into our space, we opted to be loyal to the brand that had served us so well in the past and bought this one. We have had issues with both the washer and dryer ripping buttons, snaps, and zippers off of clothes. We had the agitator replaced in the washer and are currently waiting for replacement parts to *hopefully* fix the dryer. So far it's just been a huge headache and if it weren't under warranty, I would be furious. Sears has been great. It's possible that we just got a bad machine (although technically, it's not considered a lemon until you have 4 service calls in the 1st year). My take away from this experience is that Kenmore just doesn't make things like they used to. I would avoid Kenmore products and GE products (same manufacturer). My technician suggested Whirlpool, which is what we will get if this can't be fixed. Hope this helps!

Warning Warning Warning

My old GE stack unit died a natural death and, unfortunately, due to the configuration of my bay house, I had no choice but to buy another stack unit. Not saying this is not a good unit, as far as washing and drying clothes, but (1) it has no beep to let you know when the washer or dryer are done and (2), the worst feature of all - the dryer door WILL NOT stay open, so loading and unloading the clothes is an exercise in futility. The first time I dried my clothes, I opened the dryer door and a sock fell on the floor. I bent down to pick it up and, when I stood up I whacked myself on the head so hard I saw stars! Poor, poor, poor design!  When I called to ask for it to be repaired- I was told this is the way ALL stackable units are today, so I am  stuck with it. Like I say, not saying it is a BAD unit, just poorly designed. OUCH!!!
