We have been living with one of these Sears laundry centers for about 2 years. So far we have not seen any of the mechanical problems described by other reviewers, however there are problems. About once every two weeks a shirt button will get caught in the dryer tub vent screen. The shirt will twist up into a wrinkled mess, and the button will come off the shirt. It seems the square holes in the vent screen are just the right size to catch and hold a button. Very annoying. When the spin cycle engages, the machine is as noisy as a locomotive. Fortunately we can close a door to the laundry area, and at least decrease the noise. Cant imagine this in a small apartment. Other than that it seems to wash and dry fine, but I would not recommend the machine to anyone.
This Is A Warning To All!!! Do Not Buy This. Sears Would NoT Stand Behind Their Product. IT Only Last A Year And A Half. The Main BearinG Went Out And It Was Going To Cost Almost $600.00 To Fix It. I Had To Take A Loss.
I was a little apprehensive about this model (2661532) because of the reviews. The thing is, almost all laundry centers have bad reviews. I installed it in our condo, so the simple, easy to understand controls are a plus. This is the kind of machine they would have made in Bulgaria or East Germany 50 years ago. Very basic! It makes some unsettling knocking noises during the wash cycle, and it's louder then regular machines, but it does clean well. I would have preferred a stainless steel tub, but the plastic one seems OK. You can get one for less then half price at a Sears outlet store. ........... PS. I HATE Sears phone system. Hire some real people to answer the phones!
I am currently on my 2nd laundry center since Dec 2012. First one broke in under 90 days. This second one is now being repaired for the 3rd time since March of 2013. The cost of parts alone is almost the cost of the machine. Do not even consider this machine.. Have not had a problem with the dryer at all. All problems have been with the washer.

I am very disappointed in this laundry center in particular with the washing machine. I purchased the unit in November 2012 and wouldn't you know the transmission is bad in Feb. 2014. I know there are lemons in anything you buy, but it definitely seems there is a problem based on the reviews here. I do not recommend this product and definitely is making me rethink buying the Kenmore label if this is the quality they are going to put forward.
Stay away from this center! We had the unit replaced after the first was a lemon within 6mos of purchasing. The second is also a dud. The dryer never had an issue (other than the start **** being broken and stuck to the on position). The washer however, where to start... the technician is now on my Christmas list. This washer has been rebuilt 5 times. The seal at the base of the tub constantly detached and spilled gallons of water onto my wooden floors and into our subflooring (a claim is yet to be received). I now have not have a working unit since September. Be wary of the protection plus agreement, because this is one unit, we are unable to use our $1200 credit toward a separate washer and dryer. We either have to purchase another laundry center, or forfeit the difference of our credit. Do yourself a favor and learn from our misfortune. STAY AWAY from this hunk of junk.
Although I haven't had the button or lint problem mentioned elsewhere, I am disappointed that there are not indicating bells when a washer or dryer load is done, so you have to guess. The washer is very noisy - sounds like something is going to break. The clothes come pretty clean and the capacities and temperatures are as stated, but this is just not what I was used to with my Maytag. Unfortunately, Maytag controls are above the dryer door, and unreachable for me, so I bought this in kind of a hurry. The dryer door, although it was balanced at installation, swings closed as you are trying to transfer clothes from washer to dryer. What a pain!

We replaced a kenmore unit that is similar that lasted 18 years. It fills at a sufficient level for large loads and washes clothes well. The dryer has enough settings to effectively dry different levels of clothes(heavy to light). It takes some figuring to use the dials but I like the unit fine.
This machine washes and dries great, gets clothes clean even in large loads and the dryer is exellent. But it does have a flaw others have mentioned. It will start draining the water as it is filling for the rinse cycle. The manual says this will happen after the machine's lid has been opened or has been on pause for the last 24 hours. We have opened the lid for less than a minute and will cause the problem. Sometimes it seems to bypass the rinse all togeather. Don't open the lid and no problem. Haven't lost and buttons in the dryer or broken any knobs yet.
