We bought this frig to replace our old side-by-side. We visited several stores in our area, but didn't find much difference in pricing. Then we found this one at Sears. It had the features we wanted, and was about $150 cheaper than any units we looked at. Like the frig., but the ice-maker is a pain. When you try to get crushed ice, the ice dispenser throws ice all over the floor. We had a Sears repairman come in, but he concluded it was the way the unit was designed. We have found ways to minimize the damage, but not the way a new unit should work.
I've had this fridge for several months and am sorry I chose this over other models. I did not want to spend a lot so went for price and what I thought were good features. The size of this thing is decieving! It looks huge but in reality, the storage is very limited, especially the shelving which gives limited flexability. I'm wondering how I am ever going to fit Thanksgiving foods in this. The turkey alone will eat up any real usable shelf space. The day to day food storage is challenging enough. Additionally, it is noisy when making ice and the dispenser is very poorly designed. Ice flies all over the floor every single time it is dispensed. All in all, not thrilled with this thing. On a positive note, it seems to keep an even temp and have not noticed "cold spots" which leave some foods placed to the rear of the fridge frosted as with my last model. All in all, not a very storage friendly appliance for all it's bulk and a pain to always have to pick ice up off the floor which should not be. There are much better options out there!
We purchased this loathsome machine a few months ago. Shortly after purchase (1 month or so) our ice machine stopped working. Being reasonable humans, we did not find this very concerning. A few days ago the water dispenser went kaput as well. Seeing as drinking water is essential to our wellbeing as actively participating members of society, this was pretty enraging. Well, we could at least eat, right? That's pretty funny seeing as how the temperature in our refrigerator rose to a balmy 62 degrees. First thing this morning we called the Sears repair service, and after a lovely thirty minute chat they were kind enough to schedule a repair for us at an undisclosed time on December 9th. Unfortunately they weren't very helpful about what we should do for basic food and water needs in the meantime. I wouldn't recommend this refrigerator unless you need a prop for your kitchen, or if you're satisfied using only the bottom drawer on both refrigerator and freezer.
Stainless steel looks great in our kitchen and we got 3.5 cubic feet more space. The price was incredible for stainless steel at that capacity. Great energy efficiency also. Installers were terrific and take-away helped a lot.
This side by side is excellant for our church - it makes great ice cubes and seems to have plenty of room in freezer and refrigerator side. We have had it a little over a week now and everyone is pleased that we went with this model -

I have been wanting a side-by-side refrigerator for many years. After seeing the great sale offered at Sears, I made my decision to make the purchase. It is the perfect size for me and I am enjoying the water and ice dispenser in the door. Thank you Sears for making my dream come true!
It has been almost 20 years since purchasing a refrigerator my last one was a kenmore so when this model came on sale I thought it was time, I like the ice/water on the door and it really is quite roomy! For the money I think I made a great purchase!
Gave this refrigerator a good rating because one more shelve would have been better. Icemaker is fast at dispensing the ice, one of the qualities the BB previous refrigerator didn't have. Lots of room in the freezer compartment.
