Kenmore 25.0 cu. ft. French Door Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator

Whether you're hosting a big event or just feeding your family, the Kenmore French Door refrigerator 7160 has plenty of space. Four Adjustable Glass Shelves, pantry drawer and deep gallon-sized door bins give you plenty of storage, and two humidity-controlled crisper drawers keep veggies fresh. The pull-out bottom freezer offers another 7.5 cu. ft. of space. The energy-efficient design saves money, and with the Kenmore bottom-freezer refrigerator's GeniusCool™ technology and advanced air-flow control system, food is always stored at the perfect temperature.

  • A full-width, gourmet pantry drawer stores party platters, pizzas, pies, trays and more while clearing shelf space for better organization and easier storage.
  • Spacious, tight-sealing and designed to control humidity, Kenmore crisper drawers deliver fresh, crunchy fruit and vegetables, so you can stock up on produce.
  • Advanced Air Flow uses strategically placed vents to balance cool air throughout the entire refrigerator, so even the items on the door stay cool.
  • Spill-proof tempered glass shelves keep drips, drizzles and spills from spreading throughout the fridge, making cleanup fast and easy.
  • Genius Cool™ features dual evaporators that cool your refrigerator and freezer separately to help eliminate wilted lettuce and freezer-burned ice cream.

Incorrect width quoted to us by salesperson
Just to let people know that the width required for this refrigerator is a MINIMUM of 36 inches in width. We were told that the specs listed it at 35 and 7/8 inches and that will not do. We must now cut approximately 1/4" off one edge of the counter to allow it to fit adequately.

Great upper; bottom not so much
Refrigerator section works great, with lots of adaptation possible and room galore. Freezer drawer holds temperature but builds up frost on surfaces in less than a week, and the secluded ice maker works only when moon is full or Dodgers are on a winning streak.

Really nice fridge!

I really like having a bottom freezer, have had one for the last 7 years. The ice maker on this model makes small ice compared to other fridges I have owned....I like that. Lots of room in the freezer section. The fridge is very spacious for all the cold items you have and I especially like the bottom slide out drawer. Easy to see items in there. I keep cold meats, cheese and smaller items and I have also put fruit in there. Very quiet running. I find that food starts to freeze in the fridge if it is set too low....but I have been having that problem with other newer fridges that I have owned, in other brands.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Keep it cool

This refrigerator-freezer is a far cry above our previous one. It has nice wide shelves allowing us to put the whole turkey platter on the shelf with the carcass so we won't be wasting any of it. Yummy!

Happy with fridge and delivery

We are pleased with our new refrigerator. It is very spacious and even after food shopping, it still seems empty as it has so much room. The top part is very convenient with everything waist level and above. The only concern I had was reaching down to get things out of the freezer. That has turned out to be no problem at all. Even if something is at the bottom of the freezer, it is no big deal to bend over to get it. The most frequently used items are stored in the top freezer basket. With our old 'normal' fridge, if there was something on the bottom refrigerator shelf at the very back of the unit, I had to get down on hands and knees and really stretch to retrieve it. This French Door unit is much more usable and convenient overall. When we were at Sears ordering the fridge, we asked the salesman if the delivery people would move our old fridge to the basement. The salesman said no way. He said there were 'insurance problems' with moving it and the delivery guys were on a tight schedule and did not have time to move anything. We really did need the old unit moved as it was only 5 years old and we wanted to keep it. We hoped a small gratiity could persuade the men to move it for us. When the delivery people called (they were very responsible about the delivery times and called the evening before, the morning of delivery and again as they left the last delivery before ours to let us know to start emptying the fridge) they asked US if there was an old unit that we would want moved. We said yes and explained that we would have the door off the old fridge, the railing removed from the stairs, etc to facilitate moving it downstairs. They said there was no problem and they would be glad to move it. They even thanked us for all of our preparations to make it easier! We gave both men a nice tip, but they would have done it for nothing.

Overall
Not perfect, but a great refrigerator for this price point.

We bought this refrigerator because our old Kenmore was 15 years old and we wanted to delegate it as a garage refrigerator while while we transition our kitchen to stainless. This has a real stainless front as magnets will not adhere to it. The grey sides are regular steel however. We got this for a price we could not pass up and it was on Consumer Reports list as a good choice. It's quiet, looks nice and has more space than most refrigerators in this category due to the fact that the ice maker is NOT in the door. It's in the freezer (where it belongs) and takes up very little space. Old-school perhaps, but easy to replace and will likely keep this fridge trouble free. The fewer electronic boards on appliances the better IMHO. The doors are harder to close than standard refrigerators but thankfully it has an alarm that beeps after 30 seconds as a friendly reminder. It also helps me know when the kids are just standing there staring into it's vastness pondering what to eat. The only other issue is that refrigerator door shelves don't offer as much adjustability as the could. We have a ton of condiments and it was a chore figuring out how to fit them all in. Sometimes pulling them in and out is tight too. A gallon of milk fits but it was such a struggle we delegated it to the top shelf instead. I really like the freezer on the bottom since we access the fridge more often, we never have to bend over to find things. The other benefit to this new eye level convenience is that we're more like to use our leftovers simply because we can see they are in there. I can't tell you how many times we've found foot tucked away in the depths of our standard fridge simply because it was blocked from view! Overall, this is a good refrigerator especially for what we paid for a model like this. We've had for about 6 months and my wife really likes it too. Which quite frankly matters most!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Beware of design problem

We've had the refrigerator almost two years now. We really like the bottom freezer with its easily accessible space. It is also very efficient - our electric bills dropped ~10% when we replaced our 18 yr. old model. However, you should be aware of a problem with the french doors on the refrigerator section. In the gasket at the top of each door there is a small plastic hook that helps keep the door closed. The problem is one of those hooks broke off after about 18 months. The repair necessitated replacing the entire door gasket at a cost of $125. The repairman indicated this is a common problem (my sister's similar model had the same issue) that could be avoided by opening or closing the french doors one at a time. Evidently when they are opened/closed together there is not enough room for both hooks to swing free so the plastic gets stressed and eventually breaks. It would have been nice to know this when we bought the refrigerator, so we could avoid the problem in the first place. I'm confident that we can prevent a recurring problem, but knowing what I do now, I'd probably choose a model with a different style door gasket in the first place.
