Kenmore 24" Self-Cleaning Electric Range - Time-Saving

This Kenmore self-cleaning electric range 9015 brings modern features to smaller kitchens. Featuring a self-cleaning oven, a flat glasstop with 4 powerful heating elements and digital controls, this 24" electric range helps you prepare delicious dinners. The cooking elements are sized to heat a wide range of pots and pans, and the digital settings give you precise control. This range even features a delay cooking option, giving your stove the versatility of a crock pot. Sized for even the smallest kitchen, this Kenmore freestanding electric range combines contemporary features in a space-saving design.

  • Multiple cooking zones allow chefs to choose burners that produce just the right amount of heat, so sauces don’t scorch and steaks are seared perfectly.
  • The delay cooking option uses a timer to start the oven on your schedule, so you can load it up with an entree before heading out, and come home to a piping hot meal.
  • Added to help you observe holidays and traditions, auto oven shut-off with Sabbath mode overrides the 12-hour shut-off cycle and keeps foods warm on all your important days.
  • A convenient storage drawer underneath the oven provides valuable space for storing baking sheets, pans and pizza trays, so they're out of the way but still within reach.
  • A convenient control panel puts more oven settings at your fingertips, ensuring you choose the right cooking options with easy-to-use touch selections.
  • The Self-cleaning function conveniently cleans the oven's interior using high temperatures to burn spills, soil and soot away without a bit of scrubbing.

Not bad for the price
I bought this stove a couple of months ago in preparation for a remodel of my small kitchen. I think it's a decent stove for the price and the only self-cleaning 24 in. range I could find. Only time will tell how it holds up. The oven odor is due (according to customer service) to the protective oil coating in the oven which burns off over time. Heat the oven to 450 for 20 minutes or so, then turn off and open up all the windows to air it out. The coating will burn off more quickly that way.

Defective computer components
I am not happy with this selection at all. Although the stove top is adequate, the oven proved to be less than satisfactory. I owned the range for exactly two years when I first used the broiler. In the middle of my broil, the display failed and the oven ceased to function. Dinner was ruined along with two beautifully marinated flank steaks. The culprit: a defective computer board. The cost for repair: a little over $350.00. The warranty: one year. Not good enough for a manufacturer represented by Sears. My guaranty: the next appliance I buy will not have a Kenmore label.

I am pleased with my new kenmore 24" range

I have never used a flat top stove and there is a learning curve when using this direct heat. It is perfect alongside my 1880's wood stove

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Faulty computer component

The timer clock that controls the oven on this unit has a faulty design, it breaks down when power is interrupted and needs to be replaced to the tune of $200 to make the oven work again. It happened to me twice during past two years and I have seen others reporting a similar problem with this range. One would expect an appliance to last longer than that. Stay away from this product unless you want to spend $200 on a new timer every year or so.

Fire Hazard

The top elements temperature control is defective. Do not attempt to cook on this stove unless you are at the stove at all times. Several times I have put stove on lowest setting to simmer only to find out 20 minutes later or so that the stove top got too hot and I have a smoking pan with all contents boiled out. Very dangerous for cooking soups and stews where they must simmer. Sears has known about problems with the temperature regulation on these stoves, yet continues to sell them.

Poor Design of Top Heating elements

I own three of these in my apartment building. The replaced 24" electric ranges that have been in place for 40 years. These have not lasted 3 years. The heating element is attached to the ceramic top with an adhesive that can pull away. causing low heat, and shorting. For Sears service the solution is to replace the whole top for over $400. Instead of using a $10 tube of high temp adhesive to stick the element holder back on to the top. All other ceramic tops have clips to hold the elements in place. So now when an old range goes bad, I cut away 6" of counter top and buy a 30" ceramic top range from Ikea for $300. Sears does not have a repair service, they have a parts replacement service.

In comparison to my former range, this one's a dream!

It's going to be difficult to be objective for this review, because this range replaced a 30yo 20" loaner stove.

This Kenmore range is 24". It has a glass door- Woohoo! A ceramic smoothtop-double woohoo! Self-cleaning oven, 2 racks...I mean the list of amenities are endless in comparison to my old stove. And......I got it on sale. What's better than that?

I read that the handle on the oven door is cheaply made, so I've been very gentle with it. The stove was easy to level, but I'll bet that several handles were broken on these stoves during the leveling process. I also heated up the oven with my windows open and ceiling fan on the first time I used it. I am also careful opening up the storage drawer on the bottom. (My old range didn't have a drawer, either) So thank you, all previous reviewers, for your hints.

I hope to have many years of happy baking with my new Kenmore stove. I'll update in a few months and let you all know if I'm still happy with it!

6 months later and I'm still loving my range. The smoothtop is so easy to keep clean. I'm still very gentle with it. Don't want to break that drawer, or the oven handle. I haven't used the self-cleaning feature yet, but I have baked and broiled to perfection.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A decent range.

This electric range delivers on fairly consistent oven temperature, ease in self-cleaning for the oven and the ease of cleaning a glass-top.  It falls down in exterior parts, with the oven handle breaking quickly, and the under-oven drawer also breaking quickly.

Kenmore 24 in. Self-Clean Electric Range

I bought this 24 in. oven 6 months ago, and it works great.   30 in. ovens are way too big for me, and I always felt like I was wasting too much energy with the big ovens.  My 24 in. oven is just right, and I can still cook large holiday meals without a problem.  My kitchen is small, so shrinking the sizes of my appliances has made my kitchen seem larger, and shrunk my energy bill and ecological footprint.  I found the bottom drawer to be sturdy-- I put my heavy cast iron cookware in the bottom drawer with no problems.  The oven is very cleanable on top, and the self-clean option is great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Broke in just over a year.

Not far out of warranty and it broke.  When the open is put on bake, the broiler comes on instead.  Only the broiler element works.  It worked fine for over a year, the elements are fine.  The computer board is faulty.  There isn't much to these ovens.  Unbeleiveable to pay so much for such a short time.  It will cost more than half the replacement value to repair it.  That's nuts.  Shame on you Sears.

Kenmore 24 in. beige electric range

We got a pretty good deal on the range on sale. It was delivered promptly and I received my $75 rebate without any problems. The range looks great and seems to work fine. You have to be a little careful with the bottom drawer, but at least it has one. If it happens to come off the track while removing it, don't force it. Just be gentle with it and move it around until you get it back into position and everything will be fine. I haven't tried all the features yet, so I don't know if the broiler works like it should. I noticed someone else had a problem with it. All in all, it seems to be worth the money and looks very nice in our kitchen.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
