Kenmore 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Efficient Performance

The Kenmore 24" built-in dishwasher 1569 tackles the tough baked-on grease and food to leave your dishes clean. Rotating spray jets in the TurboZone option blast away food particles, while the UltraWash HE filter traps debris and keeps it from sticking to your clean plates. For delicate glassware and dishes, the China/Gentle cycle offers a light wash that still manages to get in those tight places. This Kenmore built-in dishwasher is also energy- and water-efficient. It automatically adjusts resource output to suit each individual load, saving you water and money.

  • The ENERGY STAR qualified UltraWash HE System uses up to 40% less electricity and 68% less water than some dishwashers, for a powerful clean that uses fewer resources.
  • The UltraWash® HE Filter traps food particles and keeps them from re-entering the dishwasher, so water is cleaner and dishes shine bright.
  • TurboZone® with Rotating Spray Jets uses 6 pressurized spray nozzles to blast through tough, stuck-on residue and foods like lipstick, oatmeal, cheese and baked-on egg.
  • The China Gentle cycle washes your finest crystal and most  delicate plates with a gentle touch, so you don't have to worry or wash them by hand when it's time to clean up.
  • Cut down on hand-cleaning pots and pans by quickly raising, lowering or removing this adjustable upper rack, so there's always plenty of room for those larger items.
  • Built to resist stains, shrug-off corrosion and increase heat retention for improved drying performance, the stainless steel tub delivers service that shines.

Been using for a year
I bought this on Black Friday 2011 and have been using every day for a year. At the time I bought it, there were tons of reviews to rely upon. This is the best dishwasher I have ever owned. It has a lot of options, but we tend to just use the normal wash with no heat dry. Every now and then we use the turbo clean on pots and pans, but not often. Except for when the water fills, it is extremely quiet running, so we can run it anytime. The two filters are very fine mesh and very easy to unscrew, clean and screw back in. Whenever I feel the dishes are not as clean as possible, I rinse the filters and put them back in. I would buy it again. Having said that, there are just a few minor downsides. The controls being where they are, we are constantly accidently turning it on. There is a lock function, but we never get around to setting it. We just push clear and it turns off. The stainless steel is impossible to keep nice looking and the rollout dish holder racks are not smooth functioning.

OK
Replaced an Asko that I had had for 13 years. I was reluctant and rightly so. The Asko has racks that allow you to put plates and bowls very close together and still get very clean. The Kenmore is not set up very well to do that. A row of plates takes up most of the bottom section. The silverware basket with the individual slots is a pain. I will probably take those out. The door doesn't close smoothly and the rack rolls out awkwardly. The mechanism to adjust the upper rack up and down is not smooth either. It did get the dishes clean. It's also not as quiet as the Asko. However, the Asko customer service was horrible and I did have to have it repaired a number of times. I got the service agreement on the Kenmore, which is something I rarely do.

Lovin It

Just replaced my Kitchen Aid... this unit is very quite and energy efficient. It's a little bit smaller than the prior unit (but only a little) but it has a great heavy duty spray feature for baked on casserole dish ware. Although I haven't used it yet, I am looking forward to it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice Buy

All and all this dishwasher was a nice buy. Got it on sale at a great deal to match my other Kenmore appliances and am happy with the overall performance and quality of the product. It has pretty quiet operation, cleans well, and looks great. My only criticism is with it's drying performance. I've only run it once so far but when I opened the door hours after it finished, the walls were still wet and my dishes still needed to be toweled dry. My previous dishwasher, albeit older and uglier, dried dishes to the point where everything inside was dry to touch.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Broken upper rack

The dishwasher itself does a fine job. BUT the racks are flimsy. We have only had the dishwasher for 2+ years and one of the wheels broke off the upper rack. We had to purchase a $30 replacement part. The part was out of stock when we ordered it - because apparently it fails a lot. I have never had any part of a dish washer fail before except the water pump at the end of a very long life. It was very disappointing for something so minor to fail.

Replaced a Bosch. We're happy.

One year into owning this washer and we are satisfied. Replacing our 18 year old Bosch which ran reliably and quietly called for careful comparisons. This one won on our primary criteria: dish cleaning capability, low energy consumption, low sound levels and prospect for durability. So far so good. Dish cleaning is excellent. The interior is very large and well organized. We use the smart cycle which somehow measures the dirt level of the dirty contents and washes accordingly. We also keep the dry cycle off to save electricity and still find the vertically loaded dishes, glasses and silverware dry just from the heat of the water. Rinsing the filter is quick and infrequent - maybe three times in our first year of ownership. Our electricity and gas bills dropped noticeably after installing this washer - enough so to save the price of the washer in about 11 years - maybe less if utility prices keep rising. it is fairly quiet - not the quietest available - but quiet enough. One note: the low energy Smart Cycle can take a long time to complete, so starting it when you head for bed works well. In the morning the dishes are long done and dry. So far no issues with durability.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Never buying sears products again

After owning this dishwasher for only 1 1/2 years, all of the parts for the upper rack have failed. It is now costing me 1/3 of what I paid ($300) for the entire dishwasher to replace all of the plastic parts for the upper rack. obviously there is a flaw in the design because other reviews have said the same thing. Sears does not stand by their products.

Quiet! Stylish! Cleans like a Pro!

I bought this dishwasher back in October as part of a new kitchen build that we did for an addition in our home. I did a lot of research for the appliances and wanted to get solid work horses that would last a long time and get the job done for a growing family. So far, I've been very impressed with this Kenmore dishwasher. I'll preface this by saying that we lived the last 4 years without a dishwasher at all, so I'm sure anything would be better than my old dishwasher (me!). However, I've been very surprised at the quietness of this one. We have an open concept kitchen into our living room, and initially I was concerned that if the dishwasher was running, it would be annoying while watching TV. That just isn't the case with this. You can stand right next to it and have a conversation during a party and wonder if it's even on. It cleans REALLY well too. When you pull wine glasses out, they are spotless. It's awesome. I can't speak to the longevity of this bad boy just yet, but so far I think it's going to be apart of my kitchen for quite some time. If I had one knock on this, its that it is hard to know if it's done washing! Like I said, it's so quiet, that I don't know when the cycle is complete. Basically, I just run it at night while we sleep and I know the next morning it will be done. If I run it during the day though, its hard to tell when it's actually done washing. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. Well worth it!

Do not buy - very inefficient

I have used about 5 dishwashers of various brands while moving around and found that this one is the worst. As someone else has mentioned, the layout of both upper and lower racks is in the way that you cannot put any small items - grids are placed wide apart as you can see in the video. For example, my parasitic lid of a coffee cup fell off to the bottom and melted while being dried. The utensil rack is the same, too wide gaps - I need to put all knives and folks facing up (this can be dangerous). This is the only way they won't be sticking out from the bottom of the basket, not preventing the rack from sliding in and out. Also both small and large bowls have to be facing down (taking a lot of space). It cleans O.K. if I prewash by hand. Everything (the washing ability and layout) seems very inefficient.

Very quiet

I have only had this dishwasher for a few weeks but it is great. It is so quiet that you don't even know when it is running! The last dishwasher I had was also from sears but it was loud and took forever to wash. I have put dried cheese dip spoons and bowls in and they came out clean! Very very happy with this purchase.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Upper rack 'rack adjuster' regularly fails

I bought this dishwasher in March of 2013. It is now December of 2013. In that nine months the wheel axles of the upper rack adjuster have failed. This causes the wheels to detach and the rack to detach from the rail. It is composed of four small nibs of plastic that become weak in the heat and detergent of the dishwasher and eventually fail. The part # that failed is W10350376. Do a search for that part on ****** and you will see a long list of owners of whirlpool and kenmore dishwashers that share this part, many whom have bought this part multiple times as it continues to fail. A search for this part on the Sears online part catalog reveals that it is currently backordered. This is obviously because it fails so often. Do a search on youtube for W10350376 and see the video showing this exact problem and how to replace the part. The bottom line is that there is a fundamental design flaw with the upper rack and the axels are too weak and you will regularly run into this problem if you buy this dishwasher.
