A basic no frills dishwasher that does the job.
I've read a few reviews about this dishwasher before I bought it. Even thought we could afford a more expensive dishwasher with all the bells and whistles, at the end of the day we asked the question, what do we need this dishwasher to do? Do we need it to walk the dog, take out the trash and sweep the floor? No, we just need it to wash the dishes we load up and that's about it. Do we need it to wash our most expensive dish and silverware and pots and pans. No, because we will always wash those by hands. We need to load the daily dishes, walk away, and forget about it until we come back to unload it. Now, if there was a dishwasher that unloaded itself and restock the dishes, well, that would be a no-brainer. I have washed my dishwasher safe pot and pans in it just fine. This is a dishwasher that washes dishes, period. It's basic. The racks are basic and holds breakfast and dinner dishes (including glassware) for four people nicely. Anything more than that then I would need a second load cycle. No problem, I've done it before. We have stainless steel appliances and while its not the 'prettiest' stainless steel appliance in the kitchen, it fits nicely under the cabinetry without drawing too much attention to itself. If anyone walked into my home and complained that my dishwasher wasn't as pretty as my fridge or stove, then I don't think that's a person I would want to have back in my kitchen. I've read in many reviews that the dishwasher is noisy. We have an open floor plan and the dishwasher is literally 27 feet away from the television. I've never had to turn the television up because the dishwasher is going and is to noisy. In fact, I'm watching television now and the dishwasher is going. I can barely hear it. To be honestly, I wouldn't hear it at all if I wasn't thinking about it. My dishwasher is under the cabinetry with a solid thick piece of granite counter-top and that may be a buffer for the sound. However, I do not experience a noise problem with this dishwasher. I'm writing this review after one month of ownership. I'll return in 6 months (if I remember) to give a follow-up.

Kenmore 24" Built-In Dishwasher - Item #02215114000P Model #15114
I purchased this item April 2014 and immediately notice the strange starting process. After filling with hot water (I make sure) it will cycle for 30-seconds, stop and immediately cycle for 30-seconds another three times, stopping and starting immediately and after the third cycle it is idle for 30-seconds. It then begins another three 30-second cycles stopping and starting immediately after the first two and when the third begins it continues the wash cycle unabated. I for one would not consider these supposedly unnecessary starts and stops being proper simply because of the ware and tare on the electrical parts. Every time a serge of electricity is sent to a motor or the power is terminated it simply cannot be a good thing. I think there is something seriously wrong with the information the memory module was programmed with and just how critical this is to the appliance's longevity overall is any-body's guess. I seriously doubt whether reporting this under warranty would be worthwhile so will wait another few months to see what happens with the motor.

exceeds my expectations especially for the price

I bought this as a black Friday special to replace my dying dishwasher, even at full price it's totally worth it. So far had it for three months and it works great, simple no frills dishwasher, exactly what I wanted. I do use the pots and pans cycle, the one thing I will say it does run longer that most other dishwashers even on pots and pans but I can totally live with that because it does an amazing job. Most things I am able to wash in it without a problem, I only have a few expensive knives that don't fare well in any dishwasher so I wash those by hand. It is very quiet compared to the dishwasher it replaced, dries most dishes very well. It's not very often that I have to rewash anything, but when I do like this morning only had to rewash two spoons, it's usually because I didn't rinse it very well. This thing even washes any occasional pan I put in there that usually will have spaghetti sauce, grease, or something else staining it fairly well. Even with all that it performs flawlessly. This thing dries the dishes very well too, like I remember in my old dishwasher I'd pull the dishes out and they still have a lot of water on them, this one about 95% of my dishes are 100% dry of course the ones that don't are bowls that weren't put in correctly or oddly shaped glasses it gets trapped on the bottom facing up. Bottom line the only con that I have is it does take longer to wash dishes in this dishwasher, wouldn't fare well with delicate dishes as most inexpensive dishwashers don't but that's not a concern of mine I don't have any of those so not a big worry. If you want a good dishwasher for not a lot of money, and you don't have a lot of delicate things, get it. I've bought inexpensive dishwashers in the past and been disappointed but this one you will be glad you bought it.

Don't buy

I am so disappointed in Sears and Kenmore for this dishwasher. I think very highly of kenmore and have always purchased kenmore when replacing my appliances. This dishwasher worked well for the first month or so an now doesn't clean at all. Doesn't even clean coffee off a coffee cup. Complete waste of money. It is so quiet because it is obviously not scrubbing or cleaning anything.

Still cleaning and running strong

This is a well built dishwasher. I didn't need any of the new super quiet models since my kitchen is away from the living space but to be honest it doesn't make a lot of noise anyways. Still cleaning and running strong.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great deal for the money

I purchased 3 being a property manager in the last 2 months. It was the best deal for the money and being a Kenmore, it was probably made by Whirlpool which in my opinion is the most dependable manufacturer in the USA. It runs quieter than expected and easy to install. Paid $199 on Black Friday.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
