Gets baked on food off with no prewash, i have been very impressed! Dishes come out clean, dry and sparkling Upgraded from a bosch model that basically steamed the dishes and made any stuck on food more only more stuck on.. this is after hand prewashing everything.
Worked great for a while, but after six months of use it completely failed. The Sears repair person ordered parts for $400, they were on back order and never arrived. Ended up replacing the entire unit.
Item was purchased in February 2012. Dishes are only washed when washer is filled -- about once per month. One month after the warranty ended (~12 - 15 wash loads), the "hi-temp wash" stopped working. I called SEARS and was told that my warranty had ended and they couldn't help me -- I would need to shell out another couple hundred $$ for a repair. The Maytag it replaced was about 18 years old and just kept on plugging until the tub started to leak. I expected more from SEARS. If cars can have 5-10 year power train warranties, why can't a dishwasher??? It should last more that a year without malfunctioning!!
After 3 weeks of use of model 15693...complete electronic failure. Sears was unable to get replacement part of the "brains" of the machine. I assume it is because manufacturer knows the part is doomed to failure and stopped making it or soooo many have failed they used all their spare parts! So after 5 weeks wait, Sears is going to replace the machine w another of my choosing....which will NOT be a Kenmore!

I had purchased a similar Kenmore model for my lower level kitchen and found it efficient, quiet and cleaned my dishes very well. This model is a step up with the jets in the back of the dishwasher to more thoroughly clean all of the dishes. Dishes are clean and dry.
This is a replacement for an old dishwasher (15 yrs). This unit is advertised as a great "water saver" as you have to minimally preclean the dishes - well we do completely prewash everything that goes into this machine and it still manages to leave dirt on the bowls in the upper drawer. That is very embarrassing with guests (if we missed inspecting and wiping each item). As per previous reviews the lower rack layout is very inefficient, the utility drawer is a disaster, the sidewall grid spacing is too large with tinsels sliding sideways in the next tray resulting in a very difficult process to withdraw them. The turbo mode is nice but with minimal better results. I would NEVER purchase a unit like this again. By the way, the installation kit was incomplete and called Sears a few times but have not received anything two years later so we had to purchase the parts ourslves from the local store.
