This Kenmore refridgerator is actually quite amazing in howthey back SOOO much USABLE Space and Cubic ft. out of the old standard fridge opening found in most pre 80's home(33-34" wide and 68" tall). Our old side by side fridge which was here when we bought this place finally died and we were in a rush to get a new one that wasn't a compromise yet fit in our space as we are a few years from a kitchen remodel. The space where the fridge is is the ONLY space it can go due to layout, so we found a few ones at our Clay, NY Sears but this model stood out. From the outside, it looks classy yet unassuming..THEN you open it up and WOW..they packed A LOT of space in this fridge PLUS gave you an icemaker AND a water dispenser INSIDE..GREAT!After having one on theoutside for years, the inside ones are actually a Great idea..Less prone to leaks due to no hoses & wires moving back and forth when you open the door..SMART! PLUS, if you have kids, the outside watter/ ice dispenser was always an annoying (and MESSY) attraction for curious lil hands..PROBLEM SOLVED! Sears/ Kenmore squeezed soo much space out of the size a full fridge actually still looks pretty empty..GREAT so you have space to put things when the holidays, parties or just bring home leftovers is a breeze! Also, this fridge is SUPER quiet, actually it's the quietest fridge we have ever owned.. including Whirlpool Gold we had in our previous home. The new fridge runs more BUT that is normal for the new high efficiency ones.. smaller compressors suck less electricity and run cooler. If you have an older home and have a tigh space for you fridge.. you really can't get any better of a deal than this Kenmore.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Great job Sears/Kenmore for packing more space & smart design than anything out there!
It's terrible, just plain terrible... 1) Right off the bat two years ago the freezer door wouldn't stay shut when you closed the refrigerator door. There's not enough magnetic pull in the freezer door seal to hold it shut when the fridge door is closed a little too quickly, not fast, and not slamming it shut - just a little too quickly. After a whole series of Sears technicians (probably about 8 different ones) stopped by to tell us we didn't know how to close the refrigerator door properly, I got fed up and added a magnetic latch (I'm an engineer) to the bottom of the freezer door, which has mostly solved the problem. 2) The front dents easily, as it is really thin sheet metal. 3) The refrigerator shelves are too wide in this model to be unsupported like they are in the middle. The front plastic part of the shelves are cracking from stress loads. 4) The door tray shelves have also developed cracks down the middle (not sure why). 5) Just today the plastic handle broke off the refrigerator door, the part you hold on to is a substantial piece of metal, however it bolts to the top of the door with a goofy little plastic bracket. I've had it two years, and it's doubtful this thing will last like my old Kenmore did (about 12 years). I think it's my last Kenmore, and probably my last appliance I will purchase from Sears as the service is just plain awful these days. Just my two cents, sorry folks.
I absolutely love our new fridge. Some of the features I like is having the water dispenser inside the fridge rather than on the outside door. I love the LED lighting inside and so much room in the freezer. I also like the feature of if you have the door open too long it starts to beep at you. Also it is so quiet. I would recommend this refrigerator to anyone wanting a freezer on top.r
Great refrigerator! Icemaker. Water dispenser on inside left, which I will probably never use.Stainless steel on front of refrigerator, put your magnet collection on the sides of the refrigerator. Fingerprints show on front of refrigerator, get some stainless steel wipe cleaners. Lots of room on door. I miss the egg container, so I bought one. Love the very wide deli/meat drawer, which I put sandwich meat, bacon, cheese, and hotdogs. I put gallon containers on top shelf. Shelving placement is small, so I bought drink holders for the very bottom shelf. I also bought new storage containers for left-overs, which fit well in the small shelving areas. Freezer, lots of door storage. I bought plastic containers to organize frozen foods. Organize your food to keep your refrigerator neat and tidy.
I like the freezer up top,and able to place items in, without taking out of carton or fitting into the small compartments on side by side. Love the full width drawer in middle, great viewing of items. Love lights in different placements, also in freezer

We purchased this refrigerator in February 2014. I'm writing this review in August 2014 from a consumer perspective. This fridge fits under those tiny cabinets in older homes meeting the standard 68" height restriction which was our reason for choosing this model. The cubic inch capacity is a bit deceiving, as we had Frigidaire two door side by side model with water dispenser and ice maker in our rental home. There is definitely a huge improvement with this style fridge as there is a larger capacity of space for food and juice items. Noise was not noticeable except once in a while when the ice dispenser worked. Now the bum deal. I had purchased the warranty on this fridge and had put in for service to come out after discovering this fridge repeatedly had an issue with water dripping from the filter area. In the interim I put a plastic cup under the filter to catch the drips. I had to check it frequently to make sure the cup did not run over onto the shelves. The technician came out today and took apart the filter assembly to investigate the issue. Turned out, it had absolutely nothing to do with the filtered water hose or the filter itself. It was condensation building up inside the interior of the filter assembling. I took a look and due to the condensation, there was corrosion happening on the part where the wires were connected, obviously not a good indication. The technician called to get guidance on this issue, and there were other complaints about similar findings. Attempts to seal the housing had failed, and apparently this is a defect due to either inadequate insulation between the cabinets in that area or some other defect. So a wonderful fridge with wonderful details is completely ruined by a defective insulation issue which allows condensation to form in the water dispenser/filter housing and then drip out the rear where the water filter is plugged in. So now, we're going to have to replace our 'perfect' find, which turns out to be defective. Sigh! Heart broken because this was a wonderful choice for our family and quite adequate. :(
Just what we needed perfect for our space and the ice machine and the water in side are a nice extra touch the only complaint I have is it didn't come with a filter.
