Good product, good price
We had our handyman install the filter, which he said was easy. It works very well, water pressure is good, and after running water through it first for a few minutes, the filters kicked in. The water tastes markedly better than from the regular tap, and looks cleaner. Plus, the separate spout swivels slightly to get out of the way. The biggest issue with this filter is the lack of information on sears.com about replacement cartridges. Order replacements #34373 and #38480.

Faucet IS repairable.
"Faucet started leaking. We called Sears, and found that (1) you CAN'T REPAIR it, and (2) just to get the faucet alone would COST $110! A bust." The above is from another reviewer that started my search to replace my leaking faucet instead of trying to repair it. It can be repaired quite easily. 1) Pop off the screw cover on the end of the handle. 2) Unscrew the handle screw and remove the handle. 3) [this part is what stumped me] Unscrew the collar nut that "caps" the valve housing part. It will feel like it doesn't want to move, but it will. 4) Pop the valve out and replace the small spring and rubber gasket inside the housing. It's a Delta part #RP4993 available at ********** for about $4. 5) reverse the procedure to re-assemble and your good to go.

A Must Have Accessory

We have owned this type filter for years, consider it an essential part of our daily lives. Was time to replace entire system, this was a tried and true item so went back with same.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good filter & faucet

The filter housing and faucet are both very good and reasonably easy to install, but the included water supply fitting has no valve and attaches to the faucet behind the sink (awkward). I highly recommend getting a fitting with a built-in valve, such as a John Guest ASVPP2LF, which will sit on top of the existing water supply valve and make a very clean installation.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

18 months - No Issues - Replace gaskets when you change filter

We have had this unit for about 18 months and except for the local Sears store no longer carries the filters we have not had any issues (just order your next set when you replace them so you have them on hand). The water quality is good and so is the flow rate. I bought this unit after having one from Lo***s and it wouldn't stop leaking after you replaced the filter (based on reviews this was a common issue). I just replaced the filters and couldn't get it to stop leaking. Sears didn't carry the O-Ring (part # part number is STD302237), but after doing some research, I was able to determine this is the same ring the GE filters use was available at my local H**** D**** store (Part #UCRING). Replaced the ring and it resolved the issue. This was the first time I had to replace the O-rings.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Water filter

Installation instructions were easy to follow. Sears had the required filters in stock and on sale. The water quality is much improved. I think the water may be better than some bottle water.

Replacement Filters no more

Love this Kenmore drinking water filter system, BUT, last week went to my local Sears where I bought it for replacement filters. All they had was 2 sediment filters left. I asked the salesperson where are all the filters. I was told they are not going to carry them any longer, try another store.

The faucet on this filter has problems.

The problem with this filter is the faucet connection with the sink. It uses 2 toogle bolts to attach to the sink and they will not stay tight Finally one of the holes on the faucet broke and I had to replace the faucet after one year. When I replaced it I I found that both toogle bolts had rusted and were also ready to break. I replaced the faucet with one manufactored by Ecodyne that I bought at *****. It has a single threaded shaft of brass that is both the water intake and the fastener for washers that cover both sides of the 1 1/4 hole on the sink. Everything is brass so there is no rusting. I like this filter but you will eventually replace the faucet.

Kenmore 2-Stage Drinking Water Filter

I had a ISE hot water dispener and the tank sprung a leak. I decided to replace the hot water dispenser with a water filtering system. Upon inspecting the water filtering system I found the dispenser to be made of plastic and the mounting using two toggle bolts to be very poorly engineered. I decided to use the existing hot water dispenser and adapt it to the water filters. After under sink installation I found the filtering part to be excellent and it works fine. The drinking water dispenser provided is trouble waiting to happen. Beware!

Kenmore 2 stage filter - Extra Repair Tip for the Faucet Valve

I was pleased to find the repair tip when my faucet started leaking. I checked out the Delta part at H*** D**** where they had a Danco branded replacement. The two pack valves had two types of spring. The one you need is the pyramid shape spring. That was $3.98. For $9.98 you get a 50 piece bulk pack. Figuring that this valve is going to split again on more that two occasions, I took the 50 pack.

The trick to get the rubber seal back into place was to smear it with a drop of canola or vegetable oil. It then slipped into place much more easily. After assembly the faucet started leaking again within hours. I pulled it apart and looked for another split in the rubber. It wasn't there, but there was a mark on the metal valve plate. I cleaned this off and put caloa oil on the metal plate to lubricate the seal.

The oil blew out immediately I turned on the faucet and it has not leaked since. And I still have 49 valve seats left... :-)

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Kenmore 2-Stage Filter: attractive and great flow rate!

I have owned this for 3 months now. I had it professionally installed, and I'm glad I did because there was a slight leak from the filter cartridge to the connection hose. No big deal - the plumber changed out the connections and it's been dry ever since. I have not yet changed a filter, so I don't know how easy or difficult that is. But this is super attractive and works great. The only negative is that it didn't come in stainless steel, so it does not match my faucet or sink. The flow rate is INCREDIBLE - you can adjust how fast you want the water to come out - just like a sink faucet. You can turn the knob and the water stays on until you turn it off. Faucet arm swivels just like a kitchen faucet. Water tastes great. I use it to remove the chlorine flavor and extra sediment. My water is extremely hard, and my municipality draws it from an underground aquifer in a rural community. My water is treated, so I did not need the Reverse Osmosis option. Takes up very little room in my cabinet and I already have a garbage disposal and dishwasher hook-up under there.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
