I (no Sears affiliation) am compelled to write this review because of what I consider to be serious quality control and design flaws in my recent purchase of this upright freezer. My faithful and dependable 10+ year old Kenmore upright freezer was on its last legs where it would go into meltdown mode or not run at all causing water to collect on the inside patio floor. Since it had served me so well over the years, I decided to purchase this similar but slightly larger model. Big mistake! After initial delivery, hookup and installation, I was looking under the freezer to see what kind of leveling options were available since the freezer comes only with 2 front but no back leveling leg stands. To my surprise, I could see different colored electrical wires touching the patio floor! Even with my basic science knowledge, I knew electricity and water together could pose a very dangerous situation especially if the electrical wires became frayed/exposed and the freezer started leaking water like my old freezer did over time. Who knows when this would have possibly happened. I was just fortunate to be looking under the freezer for a nonrelated matter. After much cajoling/coercing the Sears service center customer representative, my initial service appointment was rescheduled from a couple of weeks to a little less than a week only after I brought up the potential risk issue. I am not sure about the knowledge and experience of the service technician who came for the follow up appointment, but he did state that the electrical wires were not installed/inserted into what appeared to be a plastic guide anchor located under the freezer. However, the electrical wires would not stay inserted in the guide anchor because of the tension in the electrical wires caused by trying to correctly reroute them away from some extremely hot parts and copper wiring. He was able to somewhat secure the electrical wires to the guide anchor with a plastic zip tie that I provided. After several weeks of using the new freezer, I noticed what I considered as a possible design flaw. The freezer has 5 small shelves located on the inside of the door itself each with a flexible product support/restrainer piece (stops product from falling off the shelf). However, the pieces are so flexible that it does not take much for thin products to fall from the shelf between the piece and shelf bottom (especially the middle portion of the shelf). The product weight itself leaning against the piece is enough to cause the piece to flex and make a larger opening for the product to fall through. Although the buying and service experience was very good, my negative quality control and design experience would make me think twice before I purchase this product brand again.
My 30+ year old freezer was getting so I had to defrost every 4-5 months. Every time I open my new unit I cheer for "frost free"! Love the flexible bars on the door, the light I never had before, and the roll out basket. The capacity is perfect for our family of 4. The shelves are shallow and one more than previous, so things do not get pushed to the back and lost! Our power company's recycle program gave us $50 and took the old one away. Be sure to check that out in your community! We buy everything Kenmore. Parts and service are great.

Best Decision I ever made, works great and not a lot of noise. Lightweight, I put this Freezer in my Gararge and it fit perfect in one of the corners of the garage. Had it for 3 weeks now, we have stock it very well. I would recommend this to everyone.
I bought this freezer to replace a larger older freezer that stopped working. Nice size for our family of three. A littler noisier than the old one as we have it in our kitchen but not bad. Looks great and has plenty of space.
