Love the Organization!
My husband really wanted us to buy an upright freezer, but we didn't have luck with the last one (door came open a couple of times and also it quit working after about 5 years) so I wanted a chest freezer. We bought this one based on the reviews so wanted to share my opinion after we got ours home and filled with food. My husband's gripe with chest freezers is that stuff on the bottom gets forgotten and goes to waste. Not with this freezer. I am so glad we bought it. There is a heavy plastic removable grid in the bottom of the freezer that divides it into 6 sections and then you have two baskets on top that slide left to right. In the bottom of ours I used a section for frozen corn, frozen berries in another, freezer jam in one, beef in another, a section for venison, and another for pizza and freezer meals. I used the top baskets to put hamburger and some items used more frequently. Now when I open the freezer I know where everything is and can quickly find it. The size is perfect for our family- it holds a lot! I can't speak for how long it will run since we just got ours but was so impressed with the storage system that comes with it I had to write this review. Thank you to whoever thought of this- it was a genius idea! Highly recommend.

Replacement for 40 year old same size. Outward appearence leads you to believe that it would be better insulated (thicker wall); with checking outside cabinet with ditigital thermometer it "leaks" same amount of cold as 40 year old one. Top edge of cabinet is 4 piece with 8 plastic seam joints which causes inability for lid seal to function 100% (allows 8 leaks) which allows more "frost up" than the old one. Does same job as old but was expecting a little better quality for the price.

Kenmore Freezer is Great!

This is the perfect size freezer for a small family. I love the shelves and the way the compartments can be made as small or as large as you want them. The baskets are so convenient. I'm able to slide them to one side,to find what I'm looking for. It is exactly the size and type freezer I wanted. Also,it was great to be able to have it shipped to the store in my hometown and be able to pick it up there. The time it took to get the freezer was amazing! I love Kenmore products and this was a GREAT deal! I will buy more kitchen products from Sears, when I need them.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

just what we wanted

We needed another freezer for our home grown chickens, and this fit the bill perfectly. Not huge, but just right and keeps everything frozen rock hard.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

13 Cubic Foot

This ***** gets well below freezing cold. It is small but with the dividers it is easy to organize and find what your looking for. Did have a 19 cubic foot and very pleased with the down sized one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Review of chest freezer

I am disappointed that this freezer cost more than three times the freezer I am replacing, that it is also 2.5 cu ft smaller than the freezer I am replacing, that my annual energy savings is estimated to be $20 or less per year, and that it's life expectancy is only 7 to 10 years. My original freezer is over 30 years old and runs like a champ! The only thing wrong with the freezer I am replacing is that the interior lid broke and a replacement can not be found. I don't hold out much hope of this new freezer being a quality product since it's made of the same materials and only a 1 year warranty!

Noisy compressor, Can't get timely service

I first plugged this in on Thursday. Right away I noticed the compressor was noisier than our existing unit. If I were to have this in the house it would be intolerable. Fortunately it will be in the garage for now and due to noise most likely will be there in any new house we may purchase. It also does not seem as stable on the temperature as our old unit but I will give it a few days to see if it settles down. I have a call into Sears for service about noise but they can't get here until Friday. This is 8 days from the date of installation. I don't know what happened but Sears service is sure not what it used to be where I could get service within a business day or two (including Saturdays). A design flaw that has major ramifications involves the baskets keeping the lid cracked open if not pushed fully to each side. This is caused by the light in the lid and really needs to be addressed as it allows for cold air to exit and additional interior icing if you don't notice.

Working fine, like the light and volume

Tends to run most of the time keeping it at -5 degrees F, with the cold **** all the way cold (some days I check and it is -10, so it isn't very consistent). It has as much frost after a year as my old Kenmore had after 20 years (never defrosted it) so I predict I will some day have to defrost this one. The good news is that it is still working (not a DOA) and it hasn't spontaneously thawed all the food in there!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

2 years old

I bought this freezer over 2 years ago. I meant to write a review sooner but it just didn't turn-out that way. Anyway, I just want others to know that I don't have a single complaint worth voicing here, only praise. I searched everywhere for an affordable frost-free chest but apparently they only exsist in uprights. It runs so quiet, I don't know when it ever turns on. I only had to defrost it once and just because we were moving. We live in a humid climate and there was just a little ice at the top around the lid. We keep it indoors. It was so easy to defrost for the move. Its so economical on energy costs. For those who still don't understand why the lock wouldn't keep theives out, let me suggest it wasn't built to keep them out. Apparently, It was built to keep small curious children from getting trapped inside an empty freezer. I think that's the law now, isn't it? All freezers are built with this kind of child-proof lock.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
