Best grill yet
I've been using using gas grills for about 30 years and have tried many brands. Our last grill was an $1800 model by Vermont Castings. Our problems have always been caused by where we live; Louisiana weather will eat a grill up. No amount of baked on enamel will protect steel when you live here and cast iron grates are gone in a year. We've had the Kenmore 415.16649010 in brushed stainless steel finish for three years and it's held up beautifully. About 85% of the grill is made from stainless and the enameled steel parts are mostly not exposed to cooking. Unfortunately, the firebox is enameled and very susceptible to rusting. Just to be safe, I've lined the firebox sidewalls and bottom with several layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil. This has worked well to protect the steel and after three years is finally ready for a fresh lining of foil. The steel in the grill is high quality and with a normal amount of wiping after use, it has not suffered more than a few spots of minor discoloration. I know that even stainless will discolor when exposed to heat, moisture, and salt. We paid our Sears dealer about $100 to assemble the grill and install the conversion unit for natural gas and it was money well-spent. My only complaint has to do with the rotisserie unit that was recommended at the store for this grill. The Master Forge Stainless Universal Rotisserie (mod. FL-6107-2SQ) is an excellent unit and has given good service but I had to modify (bend) the mounts to get the unit to fit the grill. I have filed the sharp corners to prevent damage to the cover. I try to get the grill under our porch when rain is threatening but it has had a few soakings. So far this had not caused a problem- I wipe out the water from inside the cabinets and pour the collected water out of the grease tray and it keeps on ticking. BTW, it helps to keep the grease tray cleaned out! I researched this grill before buying and read complaints about the btu's generated and the large opening at the back of the cover. In the past I've struggled to cook on grills that wanted to incinerate the food (i.e. Vermont Castings). For me the Kenmore gives just the right amount of heat. I have yet to burn food on this grill, including with the rotisserie, and the cooking time is reasonable. Plus, the gap at the back of the cover makes visual inspection of the food without raising the lid easy to do when the halogen lamps are turned on. All in all, it's been a great value for the money and it still looks good!

Cheap materials, poor quality, bad design
After 8 years with my last Kenmore 4 burner grill, it was time for a new one. I wanted something bigger, and had such a great experience with the previous grill, that this seemed like a good choice. Unfortunately, I could not have been more wrong. The lack of quality of this grill was astounding. The stainless steal is less than 1/10 of an inch thick, and you can flex any part of it with just one finger. On the inside, the flame tamers (flimsy pieces of metal sitting over the burners) were completely covered with rust after just 2 uses. The only thing they seem to be capable of is creating uneven heat distribution. Design wise, I also found the tiny red dot on the knobs difficult to see in most cases, making it hard to tell from a glance if any burners are left on. Additionally, the already mentioned difficulty of getting a propane tank in or out cannot be overstated--it is not a trivial task with this grill. In the end, the only redeeming thing about buying this grill was the ease with which Sears took it back. The return was quick and painless. Unfortunately, this will definitely be the last Kenmore grill that I ever purchase. They used to be solid, high-quality and worth the price, but not anymore. The quality of this grill was not just below Kenmore standards, but easily below Brinkman or other off-brand, hardware store models.

Love this grill. All stainless steel grates makes it so easy to keep clean. Much healthier than other grills.

gas grill

I appreciate the even cooking (from front to back) and the ease of igniting the burners. If I was to redesign this product I would place a draw beneath the work area or move the tank so there would be more storage. Overall I believe it was a great buy.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very Happy Customer

After a lot of shopping around we decided on this grill. We have used it for a couple of weeks and LOVE IT! It does everything it should and the food (steaks, brats, chicken, pork and veggies) we have cooked so far has turned out awesome. I love the stainless grill plates. I am finally able to cook everything at one time and not in stages as we previously had a smaller grill. Having multiple burners is very convenient when cooking multiple types of food at one time. The sales people were fabulous even after my 4th trip to the store comparing grills.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice Grill

Grill has a ton of grilling space. It does get very hot so have been cooking on low heat. Cooking chicken in the middle while having the end burners on only cooked the chicken perfectly. Still haven't used the rotisserie. Need to purchase the rotisserie rod yet. Wish it would of came with one.

5 Burner Grill

I love this Sears grill. It received excellent Consumer Reports rating which drew me to this grill. The heat control makes cooking better. The 5 burners are especially useful when cooking a variety of foods that require different cooking temperatures. The internal searing feature included with the grill is great when using the rotisserie, giving the food that crispy barbecue taste. The side searing unit is outstanding for putting that crispy searing on steaks. One of the top features of this grill are the metal grates. They are really easy to clean with a brush or grill pad. After cleaning with the brush and pad, I place them into my dishwasher. There are 3 cooking grates and one warming grate. This makes it very easy to remove and able to fit in your dishwasher, or sink. I could not do this with other types of grates. I would recommend this grill and in my opinion the a best value for your money.

Just plain disappointed!

I was really excited about this grill, until I put it together. Doors shut on even. You cannot adjust. A few of the screw holes seem to be off centered making it hard to screwing the bolts. Appearance, the grill looks great, a minor dent by the wheel. Can. Be over looked. Read a lot of reviews before purchase this. Overall it seemed 75% of the reviews I read were pretty standard league good reviews.. So I went out and purchased this just recently as of June 2014.. I am disappointed for the amount of money i spent for the quality that I received.

Ready for summer

Love this grill! Plenty of room for big dinners and easy for anyone to use. Haven't used rotisserie yet. Even flames throughout with no flare ups. And, it looks great. Did purchase the grill cover, this unit is just too pretty for tree sap and bird droppings.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Rusty

I have owned this grill for about 5 years now. I purchased it because of the heavy stainless steel cooking grates. All other grills I have owned have been ceramic coated and have all rusted within a couple years. I thought this grill would be so much better. Well it did last a little longer then most but as all others the rust hit it and just ruined it. The cooking grids are still great they are doing very good I dont think I could ask for better. But everything around them in the burner box is rusted out. Last year I had to fight with customer service to get the 5 main burners replaced due to rusting out. They have a 10 year free replacement guarantee on them. They wanted me to pay for a service call at the cost of about $80 to say yes they are rusted out we will order a new one for you. The burner itself is only about $55. Well after numerous emails and filing a complaint with the BBB they sent me replacement burners for it. Now the entire bottom of the burner box has rusted and falling apart. The flame defusers are also rusted out bad enough that they are ready to fall apart. They really needed to make the grill completely out of stainless steel and then they would of had a good grill.

Gas Grill

We have had our gas grill for 3 years now and while this is a fine looking grill with very solid construction, we have had a few issues. The ignition system does not work for 3 burners, including the side searing burner. This isnt a tremendous issue since each 'working' **** will ignite the others, and since there are 7 knobs, 4 of them still work. Heat distribution is difficult to control. Unless you set the burners at their lowest setting, you get serious flame-ups. Also, within a few days of use the plastic insert for the side searer cover melted and fell out. (completely our fault for not letting the unit cool down, but I consider it a design flaw). Otherwise, the grill's components are easy to clean and seem to be durable. Changing propane tanks is a breeze so no problem there either.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
